My LO sucks on his hand so much he causes his skin to dry and crack, I put lanolin cream in it and it clears up almost over night. You could try that too! :)

We use Aquaphor for Xander's eczema and it works great! Ointments (like vaseline, aquaphor, etc) work a lot better than creams or lotions (creams being second best and lotions being last). Good luck to you!

@Mamaof2: Thank you! I guess the biggest difference, from what the ped told me, is that this is like Vaseline with water whipped into it. So it is a barrier and it moisturizes at the same time.

My DS had horrible eczema!! The only thing that worked was Vaseline - not sure how that differs from hydrated petroleum?

Anyway - after his bath I would slather him in Vaseline and it kept it at bay - he finally stopped getting it at age 4 and he is 5 now and its still gone!

P has been itching herself until she bleeds since about 5 months old. While I think it generally behavioral (she only scratches during diaper changes, tantrums, or when she's bored in the car), the ped says that she may have mild eczema. They recommended hydrated petrolatum for her skin.

I am going to try it out one way or another since nothing else I have tried has stopped her itch (coconut oil, shea moisture brand shea butter ointment, babyganics eczema cream, aveeno eczema wash and lotion). But, has anyone tried this on LO with good results? Any tips?
