They dissolve super fast and seem to give relief anyway. My DS loves them and takes them really well. Good luck! I think as long as they sit in the mouth you'd be fine. I was just worried that in water they wouldn't be topical enough - but I don't have any real idea how they work. Our poor girl has been waking up in serious pain - kicking her legs and rolling from side to side, and crying way more desperately than the norm. She hasn't figured out that she can use her hands to put the teether in her own mouth so it's been a fair amount of us sitting with her and rubbing her gums with it until she calms down enough to go back to sleep. I finally bought some Hyland's tablets to try and gave her a couple this morning. They seem promising - she did settle and go back to sleep a good bit faster than she would have otherwise. But I realized when I put her down that about half a tablet was stuck to my finger (because I'd been holding it under her tongue to dissolve). So I don't even know how much she got! Has anyone else used the tablets? Is there a trick to dissolving them? I feel like I need to keep a finger in her mouth until they dissolve because if she's crying they won't stay put.
