Mine crept up really high in the last two weeks of pregnancy, no protein. I felt fine and begged not to be induced right away because I wanted natural birth. I have a history of hbp at other Dr's due to nerves and they knew that. They sent me to l&d for monitoring twice and both times it came down to normal. I agreed to nsts twice a week until my dd and then was induced. Induction declared failed after no progression for 48 hrs (and I fought for the second 24!) and ended up with a c-section. I know it's not what you wanted to hear but I wanted to echo pps that my c-section was very quick, easy and honestly almost painless through my recovery. I still got an hour uninterrupted after surgery with skin to skin and just me, dd and dh. I have no regrets or resentment about it. She wasn't coming out on her own. Good luck to you!

When I was pregnant with DS, My blood pressure also went up at 36 weeks. From weeks 36-40 it was always in the 140s/80s but no protein in my urine. I was never put on meds and was just told to stop working at 37 weeks and to stay off my feet but was not bound to strict bedrest. I was induce on his due date but wasn't pressured by my Ob. He did, however suggest that an epidural will lower my blood pressure during labor but again no pressure. I got the epi and I think it did hep bring my BP down. DS was born after a 21 hour induction with no complications. And my BP went back to normal after delivery.

With this pregnancy my BP has been high since my first visit and I'm on aldomet 500mg twice a day but it's still 140s/80s. However my ob is ok wit that dosage for now BC he said it's an improvement from 170s at my first couple of visits. I really think it was only ever that high b I was freaking out about miscarrying with he bleeding I was having at that time. I have a feeling I'll probably have to be induced again, but strangely I'm ok with it.

My blood pressure went up significantly at my 36 week appt. and I had protein in my urine so the doc put me on bedrest with the original plan being to induce me at 39 weeks. At my 37 week appt I still had protein in my urine but the blood pressure was controlled by bedrest so it was determined that unless things changed they would let me go to 40 weeks before inducing. I was glad we wouldn't have to force the baby out early, but not looking forward to three more weeks of bedrest. Then, my water broke in the middle of the night when I was 37+5 and LO was born the next day. they did essentially have to induce since contractions never got regular on their own after my water broke, so they started pitocin, but it was a very smooth vaginal delivery.

My blood pressure started creeping up at my 34 week appt. By 36 weeks I knew it was going to be high just based on how I was feeling. It was somewhere in the range of 145/95, which is actually nuts for me because my BP pre pregnancy was always around 100/70. They did a urine test and I had protein so they sent me to the hospital L & D for monitoring. They put me on blood pressure meds and had me come back for blood and urine tests every 2nd day until I was induced at 37w5d. My induction was only 15 hours from beginning to end and I had an uncomplicated vaginal birth. The only thing that sucks is if you are induced they will make you stay there all day until they admit you for labour. Good luck I'm sure it will all turn out fine!!

I had hypertension from 33 weeks, was put on bedrest, induced at 40 weeks and delivery vaginally (although, it wasn't my first delivery). My BP remained high after I delivered (for about 24 hours).

Thank you all so much for your responses. Based off what y'all have said, it's clear to me it is not the end of the world after all 😄. I guess I really just felt the need to have me a little mini pitty party, but even if things don't go as I had hoped, in the end I'm still gonna get the cutest little human being that I helped create. That is what I've decided to focus on 😊. Y'all really have made me feel a lot better. Still gonna pack that hospital bag though, just in case 😉.

For me I felt 100% until around 34 weeks and started swelling, suddenly. Yep, hypertension and later pre-eclampsia.
I was hospitalized and on bedrest from 37 weeks until induction at 40 weeks on the nose.

I had a vaginal delivery. I wasn't prancing around the delivery room because blood pressure was dangerously high but I did it. :) 8+lbs and 21.5".

I did have an epidural - baby was in a bad position and it allowed me to relax so they could attempt to turn him around.

I had similar numbers at my 36 week appointment. They threatened to induce but wanted me to make it to 38 weeks. I monitored it at home, and it stayed within reasonable limits. I went into labor on my own at 40+5 and had a quick labor without complications.

Mine went up at the end with similar numbers to yours - they were happy just to monitor it and I had to have regular CTGs to make sure the baby was happy (like every day towards the end). I did end up getting induced at 40 weeks but that was due to PROM and nothing to do with the blood pressure!

I ended up having a couple of bouts of HBP starting at 36 weeks. Did the urine catch, but had no protein. But, after a couple of trips to L&D with weird visual problems, I was induced at 38 weeks and had an uncomplicated vaginal delivery. I think OBs deal with this kind of thing for a lot of women, so they will know what to recommend when the time comes. Don't worry if you need to have an induction - I think we often hear the stories about induction=CS, but there are so many easy, straight-forward inductions that you just don't hear much about. :goodluck:

My blood pressure readings during pregnancy we're high from the start. They usually ran around 150 over 100. They monitored me closely, we're extra vigilant about preeclampsia and had blood work ordered a couple of times. Never had proteins in my urine, all tests were fine.

I delivered at 40 +3, no induction, natural, med free birth. Blood pressure spiked throughout labor and the following day, but it didn't cause any problems.

Mine was creeping up. I went to the ER once at 32 weeks to be monitored, but it came back down after a few hours. At 36 weeks it was borderline high, but I had no proteins and they scheduled me for a stress test. I had my stress test done the day of my 38 week appointment and everything was fine but my bp went back up so they sent me to the ER to get monitored again and it stayed high so they induced me right then. At that time my test results showed I developed pre-e. I had a vaginal delivery and start to finish was 26 hours.

It probably helped that DD was already full term since I was 37 weeks. But my pre-E was severe enough that it probably would not have mattered if I was full term or not. My BP was getting so high that they were worried about me having seizures.

My BP was high during my 3rd trimester. I monitored it at home and did not have protein in my urine from weeks 25-34. At my 35 week appointment it was pretty high so I did a 24 hour urine catch and that ended up being borderline pre-e. My dr pulled me out of work but told me to just take it easy, he did not put me on bed rest.

He was going to induce me at 39 weeks but I ended up going into labor on my own at 37w5d and had a successful vaginal delivery (though forceps were used but for reasons unrelated to BP).

@mrs.kmm it's good for me to hear this, I mean in the end what I really want is a healthy baby and a healthy mama. With this being my first, I guess I just had hoped to prance around the labor room in a cute robe lol. Seriously though humor gets me through 😉. When did they decide to induce you?

@blackbird I was also wondering when they decided to induce you?

I'm kind of wondering what the threshold is for my OB to say ok time to go in. I guess I better go ahead and pack the hospital bag, it's the one thing I've been putting off.

I ended up with severe preeclampsia at 37 weeks out of no where (everything looked perfect at my 36 week appointment and everything was super high at my 37 week appointment).

I know that it is not what you are hoping to hear, but I ended up with a failed induction and required a C-section. But at the end of the day, DD was perfect and I was healthy as well. I had a super easy C-section recovery (probably easier than the vast majority if vaginal birth recoveries!). So just know that if it comes to that, it is not necessarily an awful situation.

I understand the concerns with that prospect. I had the same concerns myself. I joke now that my birth plan was crumpled into a ball, thrown onto the ground, stomped in the mud, lit on fire, and the ashes thrown in the ocean. That's how completely opposite my birth went from my plan! But ultimately, it was what DD and I needed.

Hi ladies!
So I went in for my 34 week appt. yesterday and the nurses ended up checking my blood pressure 3 times! First was 136/104 and second and third were 145/98, 143/98. Needless to say I now have high Bp 😔. There was no protein in my urine, so at least there is that. So now I'm monitoring my Bp at home and my OB seemed to feel that if it didn't start going down by my appt next week I'll likely be on bed rest. I don't even know what I'm looking for here, except maybe just some stories where everything turned out good, if not perfect. I don't really have a birth plan per say, but two thing I really wanted to avoid was being induced and a CS. So sorry for the long post, I'm just feeling a little helpless and blindsided by this. Just tell me I'm over reacting and I can still have a perfect vaginal delivery lol. 😊
