My blood pressure was somewhat high throughout pregnancy, and my doctor wanted to induce by 40 weeks. I went into labor a few days before my scheduled induction.

Mine got high at 40+3 and I had trace proteins (which came and went in the hospital, so my official diagnosis was hypertension). She was willing to give me a couple more days to go into labor on my own, but the proteins did me in. Went straight to pitocin at 3pm, water was broken at 5, epidural around 8, baby around midnight. It all went really smooth once I accepted that I was being induced

Mine was really high at 36 weeks with LO2. They started talking about getting me to 38 weeks before they induced, but I didn't develop any other pre-e symptoms. I had to buy a blood pressure cuff and take my BP four times a day, reporting in every two days, but it never got high enough to induce. I went into labor on my own at 40+5.

I was induced at 39 weeks with hypertension that had started at 35 weeks. It never got crazy high and didn't turn into pre-e, but my OB said all along that if it was high she didn't want me going past 39 weeks.

I think that part of her concern was that I had pre-e with HELLP syndrome with my first pregnancy. Once my BP went up with baby #2 we sort of thought it was just a matter of time until things escalated.

I hope the end of your pregnancy goes well!

My BP spiked around 20 weeks, for about a month, so I was monitored closely for the rest of my pregnancy. It went back up at 37 weeks, so we planned to induce at 39 weeks. My dr felt that nothing good happens with elevated BP after 39 weeks... Based on the earlier elevation, even if I had been normal I wouldn't have been allowed to go past 40 weeks. We had a smooth induction and normal birth - never developed preeclampsia or anything. My BP was elevated slightly until I finished nursing... My body doesn't seem to like the hormone fluctuations! I did have to labor from bed because half way through the induction, my BP started to go up, which led to an epi when I couldn't deal with the pain without moving around.

@Bubbles: Thanks! I am sort of hoping that they won't let me go past 40 weeks, but I think some of these decisions are doctor preferences too.

My blood pressure was fine throughout pregnancy until about 37 weeks, then it started increasing dramatically. I was monitored regularly and had endless urine tests, and no protein was ever detected. They let me go all the way to 40 weeks with a ctg every other day, and would have let me go further as long as bubs was fine and my BP didn't go over a certain threshold (I can't remember what). Sadly I had to be induced at 40 weeks due to PROM (completely unrelated to the BP), but was lucky to have a smooth induction.
So it can happen, it doesn't always turn into pre e! Mine stayed high for a few months after birth as well.

I'm 37w and have had high blood pressure for the past few weeks. I was monitored and don't have pre-e or anything, just high bp. I am getting an ultrasound done at my 38w appointment, where I'm assuming they just want to get baby measurements. I'm wondering if they'll want to schedule/discuss an induction.

Any bees share their high bp with no pre-e labor stories?
