Are they doing the new incision close to the old one? Maybe she can still cut it out?

@Dapple Grey: do you apply any ointment or does the tape go right over the scar?

@Dapple Grey: I might have to try that! Mine isn't super raised but it is a lot darker/redder than I would like. Maybe that will help!

@Mrs.KMM: It's 14 bucks on amazon ( where I purchased it) and comes as a big roll. I found my scar felt smooth like the next day. I also love the protection I feel from it- like a layer between my scar and my clothing, where as a cream or oil would not. I take it off to shower and it keeps its stick, allowing me to re-use the strip for several days.

@Dapple Grey: I've never heard of such a thing and I'm intrigued. Is it expensive? How quickly did you notice results?

Following this to find it later.... I scar SO easily and any skin marks take forever to fade.

My scar is a bit longer than a c-section but I'm a few months post op from a tummy tuck and have been playing around with scar treatments.

I bought this stuff on amazon called "mepitac" tape. It's basically a silicone medical tape and it's cheap. I have super sensitive skin and and scar easily and I really like it. It definitely helped flatten it out and take some of the red out. ( I've only used it a week or so)
I think ultimately I'd probably suggest some type of cosmetic lasering when all is said and done if there is no improvement within a years time.

@Mamasig: i didn't find that Mederma worked for a different scar I had years ago either.

Mine did after both c sections. My OB cut out the old scar tissue, and it's slightly better than the 1st but it's still ugly. I used mederma and vitamin e the second time. I'm hoping my third time is better and I'm going to use something else post partum (not sure what yet). I do think it's because of my skin type - I'm just prone to it. I have scars from breast augmentation that did the same thing. But those faded significantly. My c section scars are still relatively fresh and I keep having babies so no time to fade.

Anyone else get hypertrophic scarring after their c-section? I have a really gross scar which is bumpy and raised and my doctor originally said she would try to cut it out during a RCS but now the plan has changed and we won't be doing the RCS incision over the original one so now I'm worried I will have 2 hypertrophic scars!

Has anyone tried silicone gels or anything like that to minimize the appearance?
