@mrs. bird: so sorry to hear about your loss. I always thought the period pain was "normal" but now I know better! I also have a fibroid so I guess that can contribute. I'm hopeful for you that the hysteroscopy goes well and good luck in your journey!

I had a diagnostic one during a lap, so I had general anesthesia in a hospital. I had pain and spotting afterwards, but I also had some Endo removed during the lap, so I can't really say what was from the lap and what was from the hysteroscopy. I wish you the best!

@magnolia: ooooh! thank you for weighing in! i've had 3 prior losses, two super early chemicals and one ~10wks i think, that one was a long time ago though. she did say that right now i have an 85% chance of mc if i was to conceive, which is also a challenge for me, so i need to take care of this before we go forward with other fertility treatments. less painful periods also sounds awesome! i have awful pain at the beginning of most of mine :bummed: i'm so glad that yours was successful and you were able to conceive as soon as you wanted, congrats on your pregnancy!

@septca: you are wonder woman! no drugs!! holy crap! i wanted drugs during my hsg, granted she had to do it twice and put clamps on my cervix and it was pretty miserable.

I have had three, all in the doctor's office, all without drugs. Two were just diagnostic and were pretty uneventful. The first, however, was *excruciatingly* painful. I was wishing for drugs. I think I was on two weeks of pelvic rest afterward, but we weren't TTC (I had the procedure to remove retained placenta after DD was born), so I am not sure what the instructions were.

Good luck!!!!

@mrs. bird: Hi! I had a hysteroscopy last June in the hospital under general anesthesia. But it was performed by my OBGyn. He thought I just had a polyp but turns out I also had a septate uterus. That was also removed. I had very light bleeding for only about a week after. I found recovery to be easier than the D&C I had for a mmc a few months before the hysteroscopy. I actually was on a plane on vacation a few days later!

I did not have a ultrasound or HSG after, just an appt where the doctor checked my uterus size through my pelvis. He gave me an OK to start ttc right after but we didn't until recently and got pg right away. I don't know if you have had any previous loss but the septate was thought to be the cause of mine. My periods were also less painful after I had the septum removed.

Good luck!

@bhbee: thanks for the bump! :)

@LMOG47: thank you! i was hoping i could do it on a friday (i don't work fridays) and lay around for the wk end, but she only does them on mondays :(

@Happygal: & @pui: thank you!

@mrswin: 3 days of pelvic rest doesn't sound bad! i was reading elsewhere that people had to wait at least 2 wks.... i don't think mr. bird would be very happy about that! haha, oh well, i prob won't feel like it anyway :D

@mrs. bird: I only had one for diagnostic purposes so I can't answer most of your questions  Mine was done at the RE's and I was not put under just antibiotics and Advil beforehand. Since it was just to take a look at my uterus we did not have any restrictions on TTC and only 3 days of pelvic rest. Hopefully someone else can offer more insight!

I had a diagnostic one. I was awake. I was at my RE's clinic. It wasn't pleasant, but it was short.

It's been a few years since I had this done so my memory is foggy, but I'll do my best!

Local or general anesthesia? - General, I was put to sleep.
In a hospital or clinic? - Mine was done by my RE at their facility which is part of a hospital. It's a large facility & was done in a surgical room. The same rooms that I later had IVF procudures done in.
How was your recovery? - From what I remember, I had cramping/bleeding for a couple days, but, overall, it wasn't too bad.
How long did you have to wait to TTC after? I honestly can't remember.
How long were you on pelvic rest after? - Can't remember this either, sorry!
Did you have an HSG or an ultrasound to follow up? I know something was done to follow up on the procedure, but, I can't remember what exactly they did. I want to say it was some sort of ultrasound they did to check the results.

I'm not feeling like I'm being all that hepful. For that, I'm sorry! Over the years there were so many procedures/poking & prodding that it's hard for me to keep it all straight. I do remember that the surgery was fairly easy. Pretty sure I had it done on a Friday so I could lay around a couple days and by Monday, I was as good as new. If you have any other questions, be sure to ask and I'll do my best

anyone want to tell me about having one??

not the exploratory/diagnostic kind, but the surgical kind. i have a very small uterus & a pretty wide septum at the top, a septate uterus. since the septum isn't vascular, if something were to implant there it couldn't survive. right now the RE said i have about an 85% chance of mc unless it's removed. it's done under general anesthesia & she said to take at least two days off.

questions:
local or general anesthesia?
in a hospital or clinic? (the thought of general anesthesia in a clinic setting is freaking me out! i just called to ask & they said sometimes they do them at the clinic & sometimes at an area hospital)
how was your recovery?
how long did you have to wait to TTC after? (she told me i'd need two BC cycles after, then we can start IUI)
how long were you on pelvic rest after?
did you have an HSG or an ultrasound to follow up? (she said i'll need another HSG after, i'm hoping i can talk her into another 3D scan instead)
