@Jlauren: hahaha that made me feel less like a freak of nature!
@Dandelion: I can totally breathe easier as well! Breathing for the win!
@cascademom: bummer :( I have heard about that happening, I'm sorry you went through it even though it's normal!
@marionberry: see, I think there's something to the idea that our bodies are gearing up for some major activity! And I know you were having some contractions (although I'm glad they seem to have stopped for now) so maybe that's why!

So question, if baby boy is breech and stuck in my ribs (therefore I know he isn't moving down) but I'm super starving lately, what does that mean? I'm just a pig? LOL.

@MamaMagpie: I got sick in the middle of labor. Hormones, etc were the reason. It's totally normal too as well.

@MamaMagpie: I was also able to breathe better when baby dropped. I had been short of breath, cause it felt like the kid was SO high...once she dropped, I was able to breathe better and I wasn't as tired.

I was a bottomless pit once my baby dropped and my stomach had some more room! I ate huge portions of food and loved every minute of it. :) DS still took his sweet time, tho (9 days overdue).

@cascademom: oh no, did you get sick before labor? Poor thing!
@Dandelion: hahaha noted!
@lemondrop: it's amazing that our bodies can move these vital organs around to make room for babies, isn't it?

Omg so I just ate an entire cantaloupe, three eggs, two pieces of rye toast and about a gallon of water...who am I?! Hahaha...this is crazy town.

I loved that symptom- after 9ish months of not being able to eat much, it was so nice to enjoy food again! Mine dropped around 37 weeks and I couldn't get enough food, I still had to wait 2 more weeks for him to come though.

Definitely the lower thing. I got hungry before labor too, but only food that stayed down was the stuff I had about 2-3 hours before active labor started.

@Dandelion: that's what I'm thinking, too, although I was kind of hoping it was a sign labor was imminent! And LOL to the advice about the colace -- I have definitely heeded the HB warning to "take the colace" and went out and bought some for my hospital bag, even though I know they'll give me some at the hospital. I do *not* want to experience what that would be like. Shudder.

It's probably from the baby being lower. Your stomach suddenly remembered that it's empty. You'll be starving once that kid comes out and your stomach and intestines have room!

But, don't pig out without any colace postpartum, lol.

I'm 38+3 and am suddenly ravenous! Not just "oh, I'm feeling snacky" but "if I don't eat something right now I may die" hungry. Ok, so being a little dramatic, but really -- I'm starving.

Is this a sign that labor is near? Like my body is getting ready for the strenuous feat it is about to perform? Or is it maybe because baby is low enough now that my stomach can actually hold more than a few mouthfuls of food?

Anyone else experience this?
