I'd say definitely start by digging up a couple of episodes of my cat from hell with jackson galaxy, especially if they feature a bengal. That's awesome that your kids are into giving the cat attention but he/she may need more stimulating/hunting playtime.

Litterbox issues usually have some sort of underlying reason so i would definitely get to the bottom of that. How many litterboxes do you have and where are they?

And finally, i'm a believer that cats should be inside-only for safety so i'm no help on the indoor/outdoor front. I've also never really done the time out thing for cats, and with a super high energy cat, that might backfire.

@littlecasita1122: Fortunately she hasn't gotten any chargers yet, sorry you're dealing with the same thing ;)

@hotchildinthecity: I probably don't pay enough attention to her, but my 2.5 year old 12 year old do, plus she gets to go outside!

@yoursilverlining: you're probably right, they got the exception. I just wish ours had better manners! She destroys all kinds if things ;)

@babycanuck: My husband does the pillow thing too, but he's deployed for a year (possibly part of the problem). I was giving her time outs in the bathroom with her box, food, and water, and she started peeing in there!!

@CupQuakeWalk: we read all we could, had the breeder and kittens come visit and do an inspection twice, met the mother. I thought I was pretty prepared but she is a devil cat! I certainly hope my house doesn't smell, I've ask and nobody can smell it. It's a week process to clean, saturate with seltzer water & vinegar, completely dry, then apply baking powder, vacuum, then peroxide & dish soap, dry. Rinse repeat

@yoursilverlining: @hotchildinthecity: this is very true.

My SIL has 2 bengals and when she purchased them, she has to go through this informational about the breed & basically-- they are known for being very rambunctious. Her house constantly smells like cat piss, which she then brings in a carpet cleaning company to fix. Her cats are always jumping on each other an other things. They are really lovable though. She has a huge house and they play a lot. Also, she doesn't have kids.
I wonder if you could get training information from the breeder?

It honestly sounds like she is crying for attention. Are you sure she is getting enough attention and stimulation?

We got our Angora when C was 4 months old and for the first few months, he peed on anything of hers we left around... including her infant seat. It eventually stopped as they settled in together.

My cat will tear into a loaf of bread or anything I leave out. I would suggest using the squirt bottle with water and lock her in a basement/bathroom/something where her litter box is for a set amount of time when she's bad. Seriously. There have been days I locked mine in a bathroom with her food on one end and litterbox in the tub to teach her a lesson and didn't let her out of that room for 2 days. I'd go in to spend time with her, but she got it. I felt bad but it's like disciplining a kid with no limits.

My husband has managed to "Pavlov" her by throwing pillows. I don't like it, but it works. At first he would throw a pillow if she was bad, she'd run. Now he just has to touch a pillow and she shoots off.

If your parents have a "well mannered" and easy going Bengal; I think they have the odd one out, not you. I've known 2 bengals and while those cats are so beautiful, man....not an ideal fit for many families. They require a lot of work and time commitment.

Does she get a lot of exercise, and have plenty of items to work with and destroy when needed? Does she get a lot of positive attention? Time?

My housecat stole a steak off my plate when she was a kitten, so, sometimes you just get a fiesty one.

I'm pretty sure bengals need a lot of exercise and entertainment. Is she getting stimulated enough in terms of play and expending energy?

I think there have been a couple episodes of my cat from hell about bengals.

Can definitely relate...our two cats are so annoying with certain behaviors. The thing that bugs us most is one will chew anything plastic and eat it, so we have to hide everything from her. The other cat will eat through any Apple charger cord, so we've gone through numerous of those. Can you try finding a toy that lets her chew on it like the nipple top?

@Reese: We got her the day before C was born, she's a tear old now, she's spayed too. She eats the water bottles, she does hate getting sprayed though.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: She's always done something bad, the bottles is relatively new because we just started bottle feeding at home a couple months ago. She has slways stolen food, I'm talking whole raw pock chops, steaks, and chicken. If you take your eye off your plate she'll devour your food. It's like she's wild. I realise it's partly her breed, but my parents cat is from her litter and has manners.

Oh no..That IS annoying.

Have you tried a spray bottle to deter the jumping, eating, and chewing?

Did she pee before the baby or is this a post baby habit?

Our bengal is SO obnoxious, my parents have her sister and she's perfect. She continually jumps on the counter, steals food, climbs our screens, pees behind the entertainment center and the bathroom, and the most irritating is she chews the tops of the nipples off C's bottles. I've bought 8 two pack replacements so far (and we've only been bottle feeding at home for three months). I get so mad at her, I'm not sure what to do. If C sets it down for one second she's on it. I've been putting her outside but the kids let her back in. Her one saving grace is that she loves the kids.
