I told my two best friends, my boss, a mentor of mine and my dad/his wife. DH told his dad and his mom. We told a friend couple of ours because they had announced their own to us when they were 11 weeks and we were only 4. So we told them when we were about 9 weeks along. But then as the weeks went on... by the time we made it public yesterday, I had already told an additional three people at work and three friends. I would have told more people I'm sure had I been given the chance. I always had an excuse ready! Like one friend told me that she was 12 weeks along, and I was trying so hard not to say anything, but it was the day before our NT scan and I just couldn't. Then another friend of ours overheard. Found out at about 5 1/2 weeks and didn't even tell our parents until 8 weeks. That was hard because I felt like we were "lying" a bit, but it meant a lot to us to have a secret for just us for a few weeks! I am naturally a very private person so it came naturally. It was hard not telling my mom and my best friend but I didnt really care to much about everyone else. We waited a week before telling the rest of our families and after that basically the entire world knew lol. I just couldn't keep it a secret any longer. We did keep it off Facebook until the second trimester, which I'm glad for. But as for seeing people in person, it always came out like word vomit, plus our mothers spread the news to the entire family almost immediately, so we didn't have to keep it a secret from them for any amount of time. We got our BFP Tuesday, and I'm already the biggest blabbermouth EVER! We told my in-laws that night. I texted two of my friends who are currently preggo the next day. Yesterday I let it slip in an email to another friend. This weekend, my dad's family will all be together (every aunt, uncle, cousin, spouse, and kids). We'll be telling my parents and siblings then so we can do it in person. Here's the kicker: I SOOOOO want to tell my whole family because everyone lives throughout the US and Europe and I will never have another chance to announce a pregnancy in person to any of those people since it's only like every 10 years that everyone gets together and we are so geographically scattered. I haven't even had my first appointment, and I know I should be more cautious about telling people, but I'm just burstig with joy and excitement. On one hand, I would be 100% okay with all these people knowing if we miscarried. They would-be supportive and cover us in prayer. But on the other hand, I really, really don't want work to find out accidentally since I just started a new job. Worst secret keeper ever. DH has already been making fun if me. Are/were you a good secret keeper about your BFP? If so, how did you manage to not say anything?!?! .
