It's so so hard now. At my new job, I see a lot of medical files from hospitals and it breaks my heart to see all of the diagnosis information coming through, especially the newborn patients who died at childbirth.

I can't watch shows like 16 and Pregnant or Teen Mom anymore after having my own child. I literally started sobbing after watching a scene where the dad (ugh if you can call him that) kicked the mom out of the car and sped away driving recklessly with two teeny premature twins strapped in the backseat.
I was actually really surprised by my reaction, and I just can't imagine that happening in my life. I was so angry and scared for those babies in the moment and for the rest of what their childhood will be like.
News articles are only better because I'm not watching video clips of it. I don't want to be ignorant of what is happening in the world but I have noticed that I just avoid reading about this kind of stuff in order to preserve my own feelings.

Yes. I was such a mess during the Newtown crisis - I cried at work every day for a week. I think when we become moms, every baby out there somehow becomes our baby. It's like our hearts live outside of us now. I keep thinking that I have so much love for my LO, I wish there was a way for me to help a baby or child that is suffering.

Ever since having a baby I am a huge crier when anything sad about children happens - even if it's on a TV show. It's a bit ridiculous, but I just get SO sad when I think of these perfect children being hurt or mistreated.

I am the same way! If I read or hear stories about babies/children dying or being hurt it makes me so upset and emotional. Especially when I hear child abuse and child neglect cases in the news, it breaks my heart. No child should ever have to suffer or be hurt and it makes me sooo upset. I look at my LO and see how loved, healthy, and nurtured she is and it breaks my heart that there are babies and children out there who do not have that. I seriously wish there was a way every child that was suffering out there could go to a good family and home.

@jillybean218: I still get upset reading about animals too. But i think after becoming a mom I'm always thinking about what if it was my DD and then I want to save the world and protect all children.

How sad! And so easily avoidable in this case!

I also get upset when reading about animals being hurt or dying.

So whenever I hear something terrible about a child on the news/newspaper, I always break down in tears.

I was in my local starbucks waiting for order my coffee and I saw the NY times and I glanced at the front page and saw the picture. I started to tear put. Then I went to my office and started to read the article ( http://www.nytimes.com/2013/07/18/world/asia/children-die-from-tainted-lunches-at-indian-school.html?ref=world&_r=0 ) and I couldnt even finish.

Am I the only one?
