@hellocupcake: Ugh...so sorry you haven't progressed as much as you hoped. It's a frustrating process, for sure. I am 39w today and was 2cm dilated last week, lost my mucus plug last Friday, and still nothing. I go back today and am almost thinking of not having her check me, to avoid being disappointed. I know I'll change my mind when I get there though ;)

My mom didn't with my brother, her second. She said she felt 'off' all day but was running around after me (I was 2.5). When my dad got home she thought she should go to the hospital and had my brother within 20 minutes of arriving. Good thing they didn't hit traffic!

Sorry it's not happened yet. The mucus plug can regenerate but you can also go from 2 to labor pretty quickly! I went 5 days past my due date the first time and it was so hard. This time I'm trying to expect to make it to at least my due date and perhaps go past. Hang in there.

The end is so hard. Hugs!!

I had a non-stress test on a Friday. I was told I was having regular contractions at that point but I didn't feel them. I had LO on Saturday -- the next Saturday, after a really long labor.

I'm totally having a pity party. Got checked at my appointment and I'm still at a one, maybe a two. :( These contractions are insane and I just want to lay in bed and feel sorry for myself :/ But, I guess I still have 2 weeks to get anxious. I just wish there was something I could do for the pain :(

Thank you for the replies. I'm hoping I'm one of those random people who do go from a one to 10 in like an hour without warning :) here's hoping...

Yes, with my first. I was a month early, and had the ok to travel out of state for Easter. I had such bad back pain, couldn't stand, sit, lay down, I was advised to head to L&D. I was dilated to 4.5 and they kept me, for 5 days! They couldn't assist in my labor because of military vs civilian hospitals/insurance so I suffered! I stalled at 7cm but my Dr wouldn't let them transport an hour away to a military hospital, on the fifth day they finally allowed my water to be broken. It was go time after that!

I didn't know. I was actually in the hospital overnight for a 24 hour urine protien test & they were like "Do you feel that? Did you know you're in labor?" I had no idea, I thought I just felt bad cause I was huge lol. I didn't feel much until I dilated to about 5 cm though...I kept being asked if I had a high pain tolerance.

I did, but I think only because I was in denial a little bit. My water broke early in the morning, although in little gushes, nothing big, so I convinced myself that I was peeing myself. When I went to my regularly scheduled doctors appointment that afternoon she said, "well, looks like you're going to have the baby soon!" And I said "ok great, like in a week or two?" And she obviously told me no and sent me to L&D. In my normal state I know that when your water breaks it's go time, but I guess because it was early (I had my son exactly a month early), I tried to convince myself I had more time.

I went into preterm labor at 32 weeks (with twins, so not very unusual) and didn't know it until I went to an OB appt. I was at my usual US to check cervical length and heart rates and the tech discovered that I was about 75% effaced. She said "are you feel contractions right now?" And I said no, but I was having painful cramps. She was like "those are contractions!" They were able to stop my contractions though and I stayed on bed rest until I was induced six weeks later. Good luck! Hope things get going for you soon!!

I didn't know if I was or not at first. On Tuesday afternoon/evening (after a cervical check that morning at 37+6 where I was 1 cm 90% and told it would likely be a few more weeks) I had gradually worsening contractions but nothing too intense. They tapered off over night and throughout the next day. At 1 am Thursday morning, a little leak woke me up and I thought it was amniotic fluid but wasn't sure since it was just a tiny bit and I didn't have any more. Contractions started up pretty soon after but they didn't feel much worse than what happened Tuesday night (which led to nothing) and they weren't consistent in intensity or frequency. I didn't want to go to the hospital and be sent away. Finally around 9 AM my husband made me call the doctor and they told me to go get checked if I thought my water broke. I got there and was 4-5 cm and was so shocked, but they weren't' even convinced my water had broken until they looked under the microscope (it ended up being a high leak). 4 or 5 hours later I was 10cm and ready to push!

Good luck, you never know what could happen! You can go from 0 to go time very quickly and without any warning!

@raintreebee: yes! You are lucky you're water broke, which is a huge red flag to head to the hospital! I had a friend that didn't realize she was in labor, her water didn't break on it's own, and she ended up delivering in the ER bc she progressed so quickly after arrival!

@bunnylovesbear: yeah, I am so scared for #2. I live in Brooklyn, and it takes forever to get anywhere. I transitioned in the cab. I don't know what I would have done if my husband was at work.

@raintreebee: oh wow...9cm just an hour after your water broke?! That's crazy fast! I progressed pretty quickly while waiting for my csection and was nervous I'd end up having to deliver vaginally. I had a scheduled csection, but my water broke 2.5 weeks beforehand. I was nearly 5cm by the time the operating room was ready for me a couple hrs after I got to the hospital!

I had no idea I was in labor. I was only 32 weeks, but had lost my mucous plug and had a little bit of spotting. I called the Dr and they said to go to L&D just to get checked out. Every nurse looked at me like I was stupid, but they hooked me up. About 20 minutes later the Dr came by looked at the read out on the computer and said "your in labor, you dont feel anything? Your contractions are 4 minutes apart" Nope, I was already at 3 cm and had no clue. A bit different than your scenario but it is totally possible!

Happened to me! My labor was less than three hours long, but I think I just didn't know it was happening. For 24 hours beforehand, I had a few very mild infrequent BH contractions, and I lost my mucous plug. I then had my first identifiable labor contraction, and my water broke simultaneously. An hour later when I finally got to the hospital, I was 9 cm dilated.

I know this sounds dumb, but I have to ask. Has anyone gone to an appointment or regular check up and been told to go to L&D because they were in labor?

I've been spotting brown/light pink all week! I went to L&D last Saturday (over 8 days ago) and was told I was losing my mucous plug. Fun stuff.

The past two days I have had very irregular contractions, but it hurts to go from sitting/laying down to standing. I have a regular check up tomorrow morning and I am hoping and praying she says "you're dilated to 5, what are you doing...get to the hospital." But, that's totally wishful thinking...right? Or, can someone give me hope?

With my first LO, I was induced so all this fun stuff happening little by little is so new to me. It's stressing me out! I'm still 2 weeks away from my due date, but I'm not opposed to baby being born now. :)
