I'm sorry :( Is there any rhyme or reason to it? My LO is younger (2) but since she was maybe 15 mo she's required a lot of variety. With very few exceptions even when she really likes something she won't eat it more than once a week or every two weeks. So she can love something for dinner one night but I know she'll definitely refuse it if I offer it within the next few days. We cope by just trying to keep the variety high for her. Also if she just hates dinner for some reason I always let her eat string cheese and crackers (her fav). Food isn't really something I'm personally willing to fight about and I know then at least she's getting protein and something semi filling.

My 2.5 year old has started doing this too, but I think she is genuinely not hungry because she isn't up all night. It's a little worrisome sometimes though (like tonight, I think she ate one bite of dinner and that was all). I give her a healthy snack on the way home from daycare (always a cheesestick and some cut up raw veggies) and she always eats that so I know she gets something in her system. Thank goodness she thinks veggies are snacks. It's really weird, she won't ever eat them with dinner (when they are cooked).

It's all about control for them. I started instituting a night snack about an hour after dinner, so I don't feel like I'm giving in to her demands at dinner, but she still gets to eat before bed so she isn't hungry!

I had to do the effing chicken dance every time DD ate a bite of chicken last night to get her to eat lol!

If she doesn't eat what I give her, she gets something really boring like toast or yogurt. But usually she will at least put something in her pith before declaring that she doesn't like it.

My 3.5 year old NEVER eats dinner anymore!! Unless it's Mac n cheese or tortellini. It's ridiculous. I just keep offering but I'm tired of wasting food.

She ate all her spaghetti and meatballs last night. I offered some pasta as a side with her chicken nuggets and blackberries tonight. She said she didn't like any of it and wasn't eating. She ate blackberries this morning!!!

If she goes to bed hungry shes up all night. So trying to prove a point by making her go to bed without eating kind of sucks all around.

Help? This too shall pass? Ugh.
