I have absolutely no relationship with my cats...but that started when I was pregnant because they annoyed me, we have 2 cats with behavioral issues that we've been addressing for the past 4 years and I just couldn't deal with their crap while I was pregnant.

I call them DHs cats--he does everything, feeds them, plays with them, cleans the litter.

I feel so guilty about this! Our Boston Terrier was our first baby. Now that LO is here we just can't give her the same kind of attention. The worst part is that she has stopped even trying to get me to play with her during the day when I'm with the baby. When DH gets home from work she is all over him to get attention. Makes me feel like she has given up on me! Also, when we go to my parents' house she actually hides when we're leaving as if she's hoping we'll forget to take her home with us (and DD). It's funny but so sad.

Hopefully things will get better as the weather gets nicer. I've been taking DD and puppy for walks together. It's a lot to manage but going pretty well so far.

Yep. My dog made things worse because he responded by marking everywhere, especially LO's things so we had to start crating him during the day and at night which we never did before. He really was neglected for a while attention-wise and actually was losing weight as a result. He got pretty sick with a UTI so he got back to being babied and I've been maki g sure he eats well again since. He's doing much better!

Super guilty about our spoiled furbaby. She was used to being the pampered princess for 10 years before baby. The first few weeks she ignored me. Now she is extra demanding, clingy, and VOCAL about her needs. It's more frustrating to me because she often wakes up the baby or gets in my way during feeding, changes, etc. She is blind and needs our help to get around too, which is difficult too.

DH still tries to give her a lot of attention and snuggles though. I'm way too preoccupied at the moment.

Our dog chose to ignore us after lo came. If we walked in the room, he would walk out. He just wanted to get away from the screaming baby, she had reflux.

My mom was awesome though and would always come over to take him on long walks and go to the dog park. She would always pay attention to him before lo when she came inside because lo didn't know any better. Now she's a toddler and they fight for her attention.

Definitely! Our dog was super babied before we had our LO. Now I feel like all we do is get mad at him for barking or being in our way etc. It didn't help that he stayed at my dads house for a week while we got settled in with the baby, he had some separation anxiety when we got him back. I feel bad because he's such a good boy and just needs some attention, I need to remember to give him some extra snuggles today!

Our poor pup - black lab who lives inside - was my baby before LO was born 3 months ago. She got all our attention ! Since he was born she has felt so neglected. Of course we take her out, make sure she has food and water etc but she has not gotten many snuggles ! She has been getting in trouble for stuff that was never a problem Before: barking getting on the furniture etc. I just feel so bad because she doesn't understand and it's mostly our fault because we haven't been giving her the attention she needs . I'm taking her for a little walk now I'm really need to make sure I give her more attention from now.

Did your pet feel a little neglected after your child was born?
