Between the Britax and Recaro convertible carseats it came down to fit in my car as they fit a little differently. We went with Recaro and are very happy with our choice.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: yes I used the britax website to decide you can check it out here

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I feel like this, too! But I think it's because of my son, not the gear itself. I bought the Ergo off of everyone's recommendations, friends, online, etc. and my child hated facing in, hated it. So I bought the Baby Bjorn and he loved it. I didn't get anything more that a frame stroller because I figured I'd babywear and DS LOVED being in the stroller, haha. He also hated swaddles and I invested in a million A&A and Miracle Blankets.
As far as carseats go. I don't think you can go wrong with a Britax. They're highly rated for safety and (at least the Marathon 70-G3) front faces to 60lbs+, so it's going to be the only carseat you'll need. I got our two from albeebaby.com, prices were great.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: The Britax site has a good comparison. We chose the Boulevard.

I have noticed there are like five different Britax convertible car seats. I don't know the difference between them! Are there any side by side comparisons of all the Britax seats?

We have the Britax Marathon and I like it fine. I have a hard time getting excited about carseats, and chose it for its safety ratings. Personally, all carseats piss me off because I can't take them apart to clean them. I understand why, but when you have a reflux baby, there's always puke stuck in the carseat that will never come out. So far, my sons enjoying it much better than the infant seat, so as long as he's happy and safe, I'm good.

I dont know much about the Alpha except that it only goes up to 40lbs max weight whereas some of the britax go up to 70lbs. we have a britax marathon 70-G3 and it goes up to 70lbs I think it also has better safety ratings Personally for a carseat I would stick with brands like britax, graco, recaro and chicco

The only purchase I have made so far that I have absolutely loved is our Oxo Tot Sprout high chair. I am not too sold on our car seat or stroller or anything else. I bought an Ergo (which I love) only after realizing that our Baby Bjorn was a piece of junk.

This being said, I really want to get the perfect convertible car seat. But I am not sure what to look for.
Amazon says Recaro and Britax are the best. But why? What is the difference between these and the $70 Alpha Omega Elite at Costco? Don't they meet the same safety standards? What features should I be looking for?

I want to make the right gear choice this time!
