I used to pump 20 min at lunch, 20 at prep time, and 20 after school. I was a right pain in the ass for people trying to schedule meetings with me. </p> <p>BUT, pumping was/is important to me. I'm allowed by law to do it. So, when my principal set a mandatory meeting during my pumping time (which I cleared with her when I came back to work) I said yes to the meeting and asked for someone to cover my class at a different point in the day to pump. People were annoyed with me, my principal was ticked sometimes, but I don't really care. The one year of pumping is a small blip in my career and my students never suffered. </p> <p>The bright side? As your baby grows, pumping will take less of your time. Now I can pump on the drive to &amp; from work and only need 1 session during the school day! I have such limited time without children in the classroom and I hate to "waste" it pumping, especially because I want to get my prep work done during the day so I can get home to LO. I needed to talk to my assistant principal about a student but I needed to pump during my lunch. I wouldn't have enough time if I went up to the main office. I feel like I'm not doing my job well enough. </p>
