I'm a SAHM. My husband gets home and my LO's eyes light up and she gets a huge smile on her face. Those eyes and smile are only for him, even though she spends all day every day with me. Your LO loves you because you're her mommy, not because you're there 24/7.

I went back to work when DD was 12 weeks, and she did something very similar (only wanted DH and hardly looked or babbled to me). And what made it worse was that I wouldn't pick her up from daycare until 5:30, and she went to bed at 8. DH did most of the nighttime stuff (bath and last bottle), so I felt like I hardly had any time with her.

But every week it got a little better. She's now about 5.5 months old and gets so excited to see me at the end of the day. Her little feet just start kicking away and she'll babble, coo and reach for me as soon as she sees me. So it was just an adjustment for both of us.

I went back to work at 9 weeks, and it's not uncommon for me to miss bedtime and only see LO in the mornings and on weekends. DH is around more since his hours are more flexible and his commute is shorter.
LO is 16 months old, and a total mama's boy. DH definitely spends more time with him, but there's no question he prefers me. LO is always psyched to see me, whether it's when I pick him up from daycare, or even come down the stairs if I've been upstairs and he's been downstairs w/ DH. So I definitely don't think working (even long hours) precludes awesome bonding with LO!

I went back at 10 weeks old. My son has (and does on a daily basis) go through stages of who he wants. One day may be a daddy day and the next is a mommy day. It is so hard when they are that young because they don't have many ways to show you love. My son started really being affectionate at about 11 months old. That helps so much because he will give hugs and kisses and sometimes just want cuddles.

Just keep offering your love and it will eventually be recipricated. I think that is also something to keep in mind when they become teenagers.

I am starting work on monday and LO will be 12 weeks old at the time. The one thing I look forward to is nursing her in the evenings and at night, I think that will keep our bond going strong even though we wont spend as much time together during the week

awww. yes. I went back to work FT at 6 weeks. :( She loves talking to grandma and daddy! They can usually get her to talk instantly but I have to really work at it.

But I get her at bed time and nursing. I love our morning nursing sessions in bed which is why I'm so reluctant to give up nursing during the day.

And I think there is absolutely no way she won't love you! You're mommy!

Yes, I only took 3 days of leave when M. was first born and then a limited, modified maternity leave in June. Guess what! She loves me just as much as her papa... but the worst is when I come back from business trips. I feel like it takes a few hours for her to warm back up to me.

So today is my 4th day back at work. My LO is 3 months and 1 week old. I don't get home until around 530pm and LO is usually ready to call it a night at 8pm (she has been this week.) That has barely given me any time with her this week :-(. When I get home she is usually already home because my husband picks her up from the sitters. I immediately go to her but all she does is look at daddy and it takes me about an hour or so to get a smile out of her! Ovbiously she went from bonding with me all day everyday to a few hours a day :-(. I can not wait for the weekend so that I can spend it with her. I just feel like she is forgetting about me :-(.

Anyone else a full time worker at such a young age in their LO's life?
