Oh, I've had the worst gas of my life since pretty early on. It's gross, but as long as I can get it out I feel OK. And I'm told that's normal (but try telling DH that!).

@.twist.: it does sound like it's the gas aspect that causes the pain, so that would make sense. I think i'm going to see how the next few days go, and if it happens again, i'll give the doctor a quick call to make sure I shouldn't be concerned. Thank you so much for your help!!

@Pirouette: I have my fingers crossed that everything is alright, just remember that if something feels worse or you're getting really bad vibes, call your doctor before your appointment. Also, my cramps were super low too (intestinal?) so, maybe if you're having the opposite problem they're still sensitive? I'm not sure but I really hope you get some answers!

@Dandelion: I've placed it at the top of my list! ;)

@.twist.: thank you so much!! and congrats on your healthy pregnancy! :) DH thought it might be gas but what concerned me was that it felt really low in my uterus as opposed to my stomach.

it's interesting that your result was constipation because (TMI) i've sort of been the opposite of constipated the past few days, but pretty gassy. i'm wondering if it is causing the same result.

I'm going to cross my fingers that's all it is and that i find out in 10 days that all is well :) and thank you again for making this post to begin with, because it helped me through a restless night of sleep!!

@Pirouette: Hey! I'm so glad this post helped you. I can't remember exactly how far along I was when I wrote it but I have a feeling it was around the same time frame you're in.

Everything turned out wonderfully (so far!) I'm 24 weeks and everything is looking really good. Honestly, the issue in my original post didn't go away for a while and the "cramps" continued for a couple weeks. To the point where I wasn't sure I could make it through an entire pregnancy if they continued throughout! I didn't make an appointment for this specific issue, but happened to see my doctor within a short period of time (like your 10 day wait for your next appt). SUUUUPER embarrassing, but she told me I was severely constipated....

I drank a bunch of metamucil, one glass in the morning, one at night and it cleared everything up and haven't had problems since.

At around 8 weeks I had a whole lot of spotting and was convinced my pregnancy was done, but that also passed.

Good Luck! :D

@Foodnerd81: Thank you so much! and yay for 25 uncomplicated weeks!! I'm only 4.5 weeks, so i have a long way to go before i'm in the safe zone! It's true, everything I've read says "mild cramping is ok, severe is not" but what about those cramps that are neither mild nor severe, but somewhere in between? severity is SO subjective. there is zero advice on that anywhere, other than my most trusted source of hellobee of course :)

@Pirouette: I'm glad it helped. It was a really awful feeling but now I'm 25 weeks and have had zero complications. It's so strange that no one tells you about this though-- seems really common. I hope you feel better soon and can relax.

@Foodnerd81: I know this is an old post, but I just wanted to say exactly what you predicted just happened! I woke up in the middle of the night with bad AF type cramps and I thought it was over and the miscarriage was inevitable. But no bleeding so far, and I came searching for a thread like this, and now I feel soooo much better! I am still very nervous but not completely devastated now after reading this thread. HB is seriously the best!!

@.twist.: did everything turn out OK for you? And did you make an extra trip to the doctor for this? My first appt is in 10 days and I was hoping to wait it out unless the cramps become more constant or are accompanied by bleeding.

I'm glad you posted this, because this was me 5 or 6 mos ago. I had cramping and backaches and even spotting and I would work myself up into absolutely thinking the worst. I'd call my doctor and they'd be like, 'Oh - no big deal, call back if there is major bleeding but cramping and spotting is normal.' Of course I was so relieved but I was also kind of pissed! Why doesn't anyone tell us these things are normal! I feel like everything you hear before you are pregnant is that cramps/blood are automatically bad and then afterward you hear that it isn't necessarily and that sooooo many people have them in the first tri. Call your doctor and they will reassure you. Best of luck :)

I had a lot of on and off cramps in weeks 4-6. Plus, I was having cramps/abdominal pain for about a week at week 11 every night after dinner. I attribute it a lot to digestion slowing down. Not a doctor obviously, but the fact that your cramps come on in the middle of the night regularly but are not constant and not accompanied by bleeding makes me think that it might be digestion related.

Best wishes for a healthy 9 months!

@.twist.: Have you had any morning sickness/dry heaves yet? When I first started experiencing morning sickness I had some pretty violent dry heaves. I didn't know at the time, but I ended up pulling a muscle in my lower back. It was incredibly painful (but only if I moved the wrong way, which was typically in my sleep). I didn't know it was a pulled muscle and was freaking out! It went away after a few days though and baby is still healthy and growing. :)

I remember freaking out one day because I had so much cramping, and then freaking out the very next day because I didn't have any. Early pregnancy is just a wee bit nerve wracking. Hang in there, and call your doctor if you get to worried. They always talked me off the ledge. :)

For the first few weeks of my sticky pregnancy I had sporadic cramping and other symptoms that would randomly come and go until around 8 weeks when they stayed for good (some of them, like nausea, right up until I delivered!)

When I miscarried my first pregnancy I had constant cramps and light pink spotting that turned into heavy red bleeding. I think as long as you're not spotting you and Baby Twist will be just fine (and even some spotting is normal!)

The first trimester is very nerve wracking, for sure! I think I remember cramping on and off in the beginning but in my case I actually had full on red bleeding...I ended up having a perfectly healthy pregnancy and now I have a healthy and happy 3 month old daughter! Boy, was that some scary crap! I never had sore boobs once throughout pregnancy, and as far as feeling like I had to pee a lot, that didn't come until over 25 weeks! I think you will be just fine! :)

@.twist.: I had something really similar last week-- I was between 4 and 5 weeks along and was woken up with strong AF like cramps. I got up and went to the bathroom fully expecting bleeding and for it to be over, but I haven't even had any spotting. It went on and off for a few days, including the lower back achiness that I get with AF. My sister told me she had the same thing and her doctor told her pretty much what @Trailmix: said-- as long as you are bleeding along with the cramping, it's probably normal.
I had pretty mild cramping for about a week after that. My boob symptoms come and go too (right now it's so bad I had to sleep in a sports bra!). I think it's all normal, but it is really freaky when it happens! I'll be 6 weeks on Monday and I'm starting to feel less like something will go wrong at any moment.

ETA: I was actually so scared that I didn't even post it on here because I couldn't bear to read anything bad about it, so it's good that you did!
