I would say tell them that you'd prefer they come work on the garden maybe 1-2x a week and you and your DH can take care of it the rest of the time. Have your DH make them set a designated day/time that they come instead of just dropping by to help. This sounds mean, but... don't they have anything going on for themselves? Like, obviously their grandchild is a big deal but WHY don't they have anything they want to do besides come to your house and "visit" or "check on the garden" (aka annoy you). I don't see anyone besides my work colleagues and DH more than once a week. I think I'd get tired of my best friend with that kind of frequency, much less family I wasn't so keen on anyway.
