@mrsjazz: It is adorable when she does it. I think it mainly gets frustrating when she's tired of looking at me but is having trouble getting back to eating too.

@mandb36: Yes, the pull off and stare/smile--that's normal. It's so cute! No one can talk while I'm breastfeeding, too. She has to follow the conversation. I think they are just curious and want to know everything that's going on around them.

She may be distracted, I didn't even think of that. She plays with my shirt a lot while nursing and sometimes tries to watch TV when it's on (although she's still fussy when the TV is off sometimes). Sometimes she does pull off and just stare at me and smile or talk too.

My LO has these issues sometimes when she's distracted and when she's teething. Could it be one of those things?

For the distraction, my friend made me a nursing necklace. When I wear it LO has something colorful to focus on and touch but she stays latched.

For the teething, I just have to ride it out. Sometimes I'll offer her one of her teething toys that's been cooled in the fridge for a bit before nursing.

Is she distracted? I've noticed since Brennan has gotten older he gets distracted more often and will look around the room while nursing with my nipple in his mouth, ouch. I now take him upstairs where there are less distractions so he can concentrate on nursing.

I don't know if this is still a growth spurt or a nursing strike or what. The past few days I've felt like we're regressing on how well my LO nurses. She was a pro for so long and now she fights to latch on. I've found that white noise helps her latch on usually and she eats like normal once she starts. She does arch her back and the doctor said she did have a bit of reflux but since she's gaining weight (and in the 90th percentile for weight), he just wants to let her outgrow it.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this still the growth spurt? Nothing seems consistent. Some days she fights all nursing, some days she'll only nurse on one side, some days she only fights a little bit, etc. I did try a bottle and she won't take that either (although we're going to work on that).

I will add that there are still times that she has no problems, usually if she hasn't been fed in a while or she's just woken up. Maybe I'm trying to feed her too often? But sometimes she's fussy when I try to feed her after she's been playing for a while and starts to give hunger cues. She also has had thrush for a while and may be teething so those could possibly be contributing?
