So I started doing the same and saying, "My Charlie!" to him throughout the day. He will light up right up and immediately reply, "My daddy!" Seriously we say this to each other over and over and he will light up every time!</p> <p>When I put him down at night, I whisper to him really quietly: "My Charlie!" He will smile as he falls asleep and whisper back, "My daddy..." I also tell him: "I love you too much!" (He understands "too much" but not "so much", so I had to adapt.) So now he says that to me too.</p> <p>Tonight I was putting him to sleep and he was running around the nursery in the dark. Somehow in the confusion, he ended up sitting on my face (don't ask) — which really hurt my nose! I let out an "Owww... my nose! Charlie hurt my nose!" and started sniffing and scrunching my nose because it really hurt (I was testing to make sure my nose wasn't broken or anything). He heard me sniffing and thought I was sniffling, and he immediately got serious. He kissed my forehead and started saying, "Daddy, don't cry! I love you too much!" Then he lay down and went to bed. </p> <p>It was truly the greatest gift of all time... both the kissing and the sleeping. Love like that makes the terrible twos seem bearable.</p> <p>Do you have a cure for the terrible twos? </p>
