I bet it doesn't bother you so much once your baby can communicate with you more about the onset of the sickness.

I'm not really sure what about it upsets me the most. I can handle the clean up, but I think it's the waiting. Waiting to see if the baby is actually sick. When my daughter was in day care she was sick about 80% of the time, but I learned to handle the colds. Perhaps I just need more exposure.... It just stresses me out (even when I say "everyone gets sick")

I guess I haven't ever really thought much about it. DD went to daycare beginning at 8w and has had a couple of colds and perhaps one or two stomach bugs but not more than I would have expected her to get just in general.

Since you said you particularly freak out about stomach bugs is it perhaps a strong dislike/aversion to having to clean up from it (vomit/diarrhea are no fun at any age)?

I also dislike daycare because of how exposed my baby is. It looks like every week since she has started there is some issue of some sort. She was never sick at home but got a back cough and congestion after starting daycare. In a few years from now though I am sure I will be glad she got the exposure and built up her immunity

Everybody gets sick sometimes. You, me, babies...it happens. Some things boost their immune systems so they are less sick as adults. There really isn't a whole lot you can do to prevent your child from getting sick sometimes, and it's one of those anxious things you have to learn to deal with. Eventually they're going to be at school and be exposed to 1000x more germs. And worse things.

Aww I'm sorry. We are just getting through Rotavirus which she caught at school. It was nasty and she even ended up in the ER for dehydration.

I know a friend who's son was in an at home center because she thought it would be less germs but he still ended up with hand/foot/mouth so you can catch this stuff anywhere.

Hi, I'm crazy. Here's the short version: With our first LO she was at home with my DH or Mom for the first 17 months of her life. She never got sicker than a cold. Then we moved and she started daycare. Her first WEEK she got a nasty stomach bug. I freaked out. I still freak out. That was over a year ago, and I still get very worried and anxious about another stomach bug. Yesterday at my work out class, her little friend finally came and her mom told me they had battled a stomach bug earlier in the week (like Sunday and it was Thursday). I immediately freaked out and analyzed how much they had been in contact, how much I should wash her hands, and how long it would be until we were "out of the woods" should she have not contracted the bug.

Does anyone else freak out like this? If not, how do you cope? I really can't put my head around why I freak out so badly, but I am terrified of her (and now my second LO) getting sick, but specifically a stomach bug. HELP! (ps my DH is about ready to kill me due to all the freaking out...)
