My anesthesia didn't work for my C- section either and I stubbornly refused to be put to sleep. Next time, I'll probably take general if they offer it.. I cried hysterically during the whole surgery and felt everything waist up. They also said that I possibly wasn't dilating completely because the baby wouldn't fit. Why did they say "times up" at 26 hours? I know a lot of women who had hours to go at 26 hours! Yikes. (I'm guessing your hospital did a 24 hours from water breaking rule??) Don't let it scare you away from #2, no delivery is ever the same. </p> <p>I definitely do not have #2 fever. I am so happy with my little buddy that I can't imagine ever wanting a second. We have so much fun together and life is so easy with just one! I really feel like my life is complete with him. We'll see though, like Mrs. Sunglasses, I really would like a girl and maybe when he's more independent I'll be ready. I'll try to make a long story short. I go to my 38 week appointment and I'm already 4cm dilated, 90% effaced, haven't felt contractions. The next day, my water breaks so I head to the hospital. After a while the pain gets bad, around 5cm, so I get an epidural. It stops working overnight and even though I keep telling the nurse, I suffered until new nurse came in and they gave me a second one. 26 hour mark hits, only 8.5cm dilated so they tell me time is up and I have to have a c/s. I cry. Head to the OR. A bit after they start cutting me I can feel the pain of it happening, my second epidural wore off during the c/s so they put me to sleep quicker than I could realize what happened. While out, I stop breathing. They get me breathing again, but LO comes out limp and not breathing because the drugs got to him, too. He gets rushed to the NICU. I didn't get to see him until the next day. :( We are obviously fine now, but after all that, us both getting infections, a 5 day hospital stay where I had some sort of antibiotics going through my IV 24/7, and the threat of needing a blood transfusion (I refused it), I'm still not over it. I have to write up both my birth stories. One was induced, 12 hours of labour and 3 hours of pushing.
