@Jedeve: I was definitely in the *feel pretty for as long as possible camp*, although having to go to an office every day (or at least 5 days a week) in business attire really made it tough for me to slack. :) I didn't really feel *disgusting* until my legs and feet started swelling big time late in my 2nd tri/early 3rd tri. When that happened, I think I really focused on keeping everything else up because I was hoping to detract from the squishy hot mess my legs had become. My eyebrows looked great! My eyeliner was perfect! Not a single eyelash clumped together! Please don't look at my feet!

During the first few weeks (my LO is 16 weeks this week), I was too tuckered to even notice any spit up/dried milk on myself (I noticed it on my LO right away!). It took a lot for me to feel disgusting . . . the only reason I showered regularly was because I wanted to make sure I was clean for LO (and for my DH - I didn't want to stink up our sheets!). I would gladly have traded showers for sleep during those first weeks!

Ditto! Did lots of pampering while pregnant. Enjoy it!! I had to get ready in stages this morning because DD was so fussy (showered an hour after I planned to, had to nurse her naked with wet hair, she fwll asleep and I dried my hair and then I finished my makeup as she started screaming)

@MsLipGloss: I think that's why I feel like I should stay on top of things now. Usually I'm pretty lax if my eyebrows need plucking or nails need trimming or skin needs exfoliating...but I feel like the better I go into this the longer before I reach that "OMG I'm disgusting!" stage! Or maybe the spit up and dried milk will make up for that...ha.

With the exception of my undercarriage upkeep I upped my grooming when I was pregnant. I felt awful a lot of the time, so i made a point to take longer (but not as hot) baths, put on makeup, do my hair, get my hair cut more, get regular pedicures, etc. I didn't care so much about my clothes, but only because I was so hot by the beginning of the second trimester that I pretty much lived in skirts, tanks and maxi dresses.

@MamaMoose: I made a point to at least take a shower every day once we got home. Usually a bath, too, but definitely a shower. It was time to myself, it made me feel human and like "Sarah" and not just "Evan's Mama" or "Dave's Wife". It was really important to me (and still is).

@jedeve: Aw, what a great hubby! That's really sweet!

I don't think I've gotten better or worse - I still shower [almost] every day, blow-dry and straighten my hair, and wear makeup. The only time I don't put on makeup is when Hubs and I are having a super-lazy day and I know we're not leaving the house. I do think I've started to care less about my clothes, but I think that's also because my options are so limited at this point, that I don't care if I repeat a shirt in a week or something like that.

@MamaMoose: glad to hear! My husband says that he is going to insist I shower every day. Not because he cares how I look, but because showers are his favorite thing in the world and he wants me to have some alone time. Plus I think he wants alone time snuggles with the baby every day!

I wish that happened to me in pregnancy! I just felt so uncomfortable and sick all the time. I actually began taking better care of myself after LO was born. Getting a shower is sometimes the only time I have to myself in a day. And getting dressed in real clothes makes me feel like a person instead of just a milk machine. I've blow dried my hair more in the five weeks LO has been here than in my entire pregnancy!

That's GREAT! I mean, if you don't take care of yourself, who will? We always hear that moms stop taking care of themselves after baby comes, so enjoy your pregnancy and solo primping time!

Since I got close to 3rd tri, I've re-gained some of my fashion gusto and desire to look cute again! I think most of 1t & 2nd tri were just about getting through the nausea and exhaustion! I've been thinking that regular pedicures are going to be a must/indulgence for the end of this pregnancy! ;)

People kept waiting for me to *relax* my grooming standards during pregnancy, but that didn't happen . . . I made sure of it! On the day I was induced (I didn't know I was going to be induced!), I walked in to my OB appointment in heels with freshly highlighted hair (done the day before - thank goodness!). :)

I didn't get any stretch marks, but I did gain plenty of weight. I have lost a lot, but I still have a long way to go. My weight-related insecurities were tough to deal with during the pregnancy. I totally hear you!

And definitely enjoy the pampering now! In the first few weeks/months (my LO is 16 weeks this week), I struggled to even get a shower during the day. It was so much more complicated to do things after she arrived.

Maybe it's my mom telling me I will never have my body back or the fact people are always commenting on your weight/size/shape/hair/skin, but I've gotten way more into up keeping my looks while pregnant than before! (Or maybe it's just being out of grad school?) I used to never wear much makeup or own a curling iron, but now I do. I didn't realize how much my body shape meant to me either. And now that I got my first stretch mark today, these insecurities are coming up some more!

The fun thing though is I've been pampering/primping more because who knows what shape I'll be in after baby and when I could do it again. So lots of baths and face masks and shaving and doing my eyebrows and hair treatments. I feel like I'm back in high school!
