@mrbee: heehee... Wagon Jr. (this is one of those times I feel weird not calling him RJ, haha) was 11th percentile for height last checkup so don't feel too bad about the eating!! :D

@mrs. wagon: Funny you should say that, because after meeting your son all I could think about was how well he ate and how poorly Charlie eats.

It shows too, cuz Charlie is like 10 inches high and everyone his age is twice his size!

I do know how you feel. Charlie, Mr. and Mrs. Bee's son, is just 1 day older than Wagon Jr. and he started doing so many things so much sooner than Wagon Jr.! His talking in particular is so much more advanced than Wagon Jr. But as kids get older everything really starts to even out, and the difference between weeks and months really fades away.

I like sharing celebrations but I'm sure some people get irked. I am pretty balanced though and will share what she can't do, if people ask. I just figure people would rather hear the positive things when it's small talk.

I hate it too! I catch myself comparing every single time I read a new post, and it's not healthy. My LO didn't start to say "mama" until he was close to a year old, and I was so worried about his speech development. He never mimics our actions or sounds, and I'm assuming he just practices in his sleep. I worry too much because he is completely normal and has reached his milestones in a timely manner.

@artbee: Don't worry about clapping. My LO has never clapped before, but he loves to wave his hands in excitement.

@Mrs. Yoyo: My inlaws told me my LO claps too. But their version of clapping is different then mine I guess. Grandparents have rose colored glasses I think, they're always saying she's doing something when she's not.

@artbee: Baby Y doesn't really clap. A friend told me he did it when I wasn't around, but I swear I don't believe her! Oh well.

Haha. Try not to compare your LO with other babies! I know it's tough, but every LO is an individual and does things on his/her own time!

Honestly... every child is different and you can't compare. I know it's easier said than done. We are all guilty of comparing. But I think that's the mommy in us.

My sister calls me to catch and practically the first thing she talks about when I ask her about my niece "she doesn't walk yet... not sure she will ever" She's 16 months. I don't mind that she doesn't walk... but my sister feels like she needs to tell people that she acknowledges her daughter is "behind"

I agree, it's hard not to worry when other babies are ahead. I've been waiting a month since lo's doctors apt because they asked if she claps, and still no clap! But she gets the biggest smile when I clap :)

I feel that way too! Right now, my ILs are telling my DH that my LO isn't talking enough! However, he started walking at 8 months (he's almost 15 months now), so it all evens out in my opinion. And my friends irl are competing too... Why do they think I care that their kid does this or that before mine? Stop keeping score and leave me and my kid alone!

Everything is a freaking competition!

Awww, hugs!

I've been feeling like that recently with people I know irl and all their LO's already walk and they are exactly LO's age. Then I remember he has the most teeth and is bigger so he would win in a biting contest or a fight, lol. ;)

Just remember to focus on what your LO is great at, it helps you feel so much better when comparing your LO to other kids.

I follow a few mom blogs with kids who are a month or two away from DS in age. I hate how the moment I read about their child hitting a milestone, I can't help but think about whether DS does that or not. There are some things he can do well, and others that I'm not sure he's even close to. I can't help but doubt myself either. I should make more animal sounds when I read to him. I should spend time talking to him and showing him body parts.
Ugh! I hate it. DS is fine, totally in the normal range in all areas, yet I can't help but feel like I don't do enough. I guess I just wanted to vent.
