That makes me so sad. As a photographer (I don't do commercial, I do mainly artistic, wildlife, photojournalism, etc.) I think the photographer's MAIN goal should be to make you look the best POSSIBLE. This is one of the reason I avoid having my photo taken, I just fear they won't approach it with the same obsessive determination. If I was your photographer I would shoot you again until you were happy. I don't know if she would try again? It's so much work and time consuming to get ready for the photos, drive 45 minutes to her shooting location, and then pose for pictures for an hour and a half. Plus, we had my toddler son in some pics, so it was hard to keep him entertained and happy. I had a few that looked good though, and the other poses were fine. If you don't feel beautiful in the photos I would request a reshoot with a few new poses in mind (pinterest ftw!). She seemed like a good photographer from her online gallery, but maybe those people just photographed better than I did that day. Tell her that you are unhappy with them? If I were a photographer and someone told me that I would definitely want to reshoot them to make the customer happy. Same with a haircut. If you called your stylist super duper unhappy with it, I think they usually fix it for free! I know these are particularly bad, because I had maternity photos with my first pregnancy, and I looked happy, glowing and beautiful in those. In these pictures I look fat! I think it's partly my fault, because I wore a cap sleeved shirt, which made my arms look big in every photo. But the poses weren't flattering at all! I have a double chin in every photo, and I feel like the poses all emphasize my flaws! Even my husband admitted the photos weren't any good and said we should find another photographer for our newborn pics. I'm so disappointed! </p> <p>Any advice on what to do? I don't want to complain to the photographer, because I feel like this is just her shooting style, and I should have done more research before hiring her. I'm considering getting new maternity photos taken by someone else, but then I will have to pay them in addition to what I've already paid this person, so that would really add up. </p>
