Clearly our awesome landlords did nothing about it. I think our pets nearly went insane.</p> <p>Later that winter, ours went in the middle of the night too. The one that started beeping in the middle of the night is the one I can't reach (even on a chair) due to the ceiling height.</p> <p>At the rental house we had in Minnesota, one of the smoke detectors there decided it needed a new battery at 2am. At the height of my pregnancy insomnia - like I would cry during the day bc I was so exhausted - I FINALLY fell asleep at around 2am one night. My husband works offshore so he was gone. Well at 3am, it started beeping once every few mins. I tried to ignore it, but the dog was going nuts. Eventually I had to get up and figure out which one it was. I put my pregnant self on a step stool, and removed it completely from the ceiling because I was not trying to mess around with battery changes. And it still beeped even though I unhooked it. So then I took the battery out, and it still beeped. And I unhooked some wire thingy. And it still beeped. I thought I was going crazy! I ended up putting it inside of DH's truck in the garage to make it leave me alone!!!!</p> <p>The best part is that when I was trying to locate where the beep was coming from, I unplugged our carbon monoxide detector that's plugged into the wall. I had pulled it out and set it on the floor while I waited to see if the beeping continue. Needless to say, I forgot to plug it in again, so I guess it also had a battery it started working off of. Well a week later - same thing happened with the stupid carbon monoxide detector. Beeping for a new battery at 4am. That was our last battery which kind of worried me but what were the odds one would go out within the same day.</p> <p>Apparently the odds are very good since it happened at 3 this morning. My wonderful husband went to Walmart instead of disconnecting it and getting more sleep and just replaced all the other batteries too. </p> <p>I like that they're apparently working well but really? 3am? </p>
