I know exactly how you feel - I was laid off 2 months ago and the failure feeling after shock wore off sucked. I was with the company for 6 years, left to relocate closer to family, then pursued by them to re-join working remotely to help manage projects. Then after 1.5 more years with them I got cut when they lost a big client. I had been working since I was 15 and never went without a job, so the first week was really hard. I gave myself a week then started sending my our résumé. Overall I've enjoyed my two months off since I got to spend it with DD but I'm glad to be rejoining the work force. I just got an offer two days ago and will be starting in two weeks! Luckily we're ok financially for the moment, but this is my 3rd layoff, and in the past I wasn't so fortunate. Too bad you're not close by, I need some friends that have nothing to do all day either.</p> <p>Lunch was kind of sad, but I managed not to cry. Besides my friends and DH, there was also a whole group of managers from my company who happened to be having lunch at the same place. A bunch of them came over and said how sorry they were. And apparently lots of people are stopping by DH's cube to see how I'm doing and offer to be references, which is really sweet.</p> <p>I want to thank everyone again that's responded. I was recently laid off as well and it came as a great shock. The firm I was working at I was there 4 years and it really felt like a family to me. Unfortunately, I was offered no severance. And we're in the middle of house renovations so a lot of plans have been put on hold. Money's extremely tight and it's been 3 weeks since I was laid off and still no job on the horizon.
