@sorrycharlie: It's hard but the second you scoop some out into your hands it melts. I'm not sure it's the right thing for a scrub though, because depending on how cold it is in your house you really have to dig it out of the jar.

@sorrycharlie: I've only just started using it on baby's cradle cap and it is hard but it melts with body heat really easily.

okay...I'm totally lost. I think I missed something or got jipped. I bought a huge tub of coconut oil at walmart to make DIY brown sugar scrub for Christmas, and it was hard! It became liquid once I microwaved it, but then once all the scrub was in the jars, it hardened again.

Did I do something wrong?? I can't see how I could use it for anything until I warm it!

I've been obsessed with coconut oil... I have all these little containers with CO around for different purposes. this morning my DD asked for some on her chapped lips :)

my mom passed on some VCO (virgin coconut oil) to me straight from the Philippines... it's so smooth; I love it!

I was using it for so long and loving it, but it started to irritate my skin! imagine that. I saw a dermatologist and he recommended I use something else. It smells so good!

@autumnlove: I think so. When it first heats up, it smells coconutty, but I think it dissipates. And I don't taste coconut at all. I don't smell it on the eggs, either. But it takes barely any to get the pan ready. Way less than butter or olive oil, if you ask me.

I pan fried duck breast in it the other day, and my husband had no idea.

@autumnlove: @shopaholic: @Alivoo01: i bought some coconut oil recently for diaper cream (although haven't used it yet, baby's not here), and was thinking about using it as a moisturizer but i was wondering--does it stain clothes? or do you have to wait a long time for it to absorb before putting clothes on? thanks!

We use it as a diaper cream for DD, and she has never had a real diaper rash. Every once in a while she has a diaper disaster and starts getting a little rashy, but within two diaper changes of treatment with coconut oil she is all better. Plus, it's cloth diaper friendly, and much cheaper than other diaper creams. A real win!

Love coconut oil! I use it for cooking more than as a moisturizer, but that is a good idea @autumnlove:

@.twist.: Coconut butter is absolutely amazing - more like a peanut butter than coconut oil though.

Has anyone used coconut butter? same thing or different?

@Alivoo01: ugh! me too! When I was younger, before I knew how common it was or what it was, I would scrub my arms so hard in the shower that they'd bleed.

Ditto! I don't like to eat anything with coconut per se, but I loe using coconut oil as a moisturizer! Makes me feel like it's summer! And I've gradually gotten accustomed to the flavor when I use it for cooking. Definitely going to use it on baby for diaper rashes!
