Ugh that's the worst! I also wore braces and thought I'd never get my hands back. It seriously went away rigt after I gave birth. Acupuncture really helped while I was dealing with it! Ice too.

I had it bad with my first and it took about 12 weeks to go away after delivery. With my second, I'm 36 weeks and still doing good! I've been seeing a chiropractor and getting my hands and wrists adjusted with this whole pregnancy and I think that is totally my saving grace!

@Mrs. Jacks: that sounds nasty. I'm excited that it eased quickly, though. Honestly, my biggest fear is dropping the baby, so I'd love to see it gone.

@autumnlove: good call :) Real pain medicine sounds amazing.

@mrs. 64: @rattles: thank you loves :heart:

I had some, plus de Quervain's tenosynovitis. The Carpal Tunnel went away within two weeks of delivery, but seriously it was mostly gone about 12 hours after delivery! The de Quervain's hung around... I can't remember... maybe up to a year? Totally gone now though!

@PermaStudent: thanks. I will definitely try that.

@autumnlove: if the secret to getting rid of this is getting pregnant again, I may cry. Just sayin ;)

@MamaMagpie: yeah, driving is not super fun. More annoying are things like eating, or picking up large objects, or picking up small objects, or really, any fine motor skills :( I'm glad to hear that yours has cleared up for the most part. I'm holding out hope that it's going away soon!

@Rockies11: unscrewing things has not really worked-I tried to "tough it out" the other week and open a jar, the result of which was a salsa-covered kitchen. So no more of that :silly:

@spaniellove: @Happygal: thanks ladies. Some days are better than others, but today is not fun. I am going to try to be away from the computer a bunch, to give them a break. Ironically, though, typing is easier than texting. I've pretty much wholesale given up on that for the time being.

Thanks for letting me vent, ladies

That sounds horrible, and I'm sure having to be at the computer a lot doesn't help your cause! So sorry--hope something one of these Bees has suggested works to bring you some relief.

Ugh that was the worst, most surprising thing about pregnancy for me. I had no idea it happened, either! I wore a brace on my left hand (the worse of the two) and just massaged as much as possible. At one point it got so bad I was afraid to drive! It went away about 3 months pp. Sorry mama :(

Ugh, I got it a month before I gave birth to LO 1 and it got worse after she was born. I was prescribed Naproxen and hard core braces that I didn't wear as much I should have. It went away when I got pregnant at 7 months PP.....no issues since then and LO 2 is almost one!

Mine was not nearly that bad, but it still lingers a bit at 9 month pp. It's not debilitating, I just find it hard to do really hard stuff like unscrew a screw with a handheld screwdriver.

Ugh I'm sorry :( brutal. Just make sure he's massaging in the direction of your elbow to push the fluid that way. You can also try putting cold across your wrists and heat further up your arm, like across your biceps, as that will help shunt the fluid away too.

@PermaStudent: thanks for the suggestion! DH just massaged my right arm for a bit, and it eased the numbness for now. I had no idea CT could be a pregnancy symptom-you're right, it's debilitating and SO painful. It's brought me to tears on more than one occasion. Baby can cook for as long as he/she needs, but I will not be sad to see this symptom go away!

Have you tried massage? Either from a professional or on your own. We treated lots of women with CT in our pregnancy outreach with good results.

ETA - sorry you are dealing with this! It is painful and debilitating, especially in both hands!

This pregnancy-induced carpal tunnel is for the birds. I've had it in my right hand since December and my left since January. I wear braces on both wrists, and I can't feel my fingers without them. Right now, though, I'm wearing the braces, and I STILL have no feeling in 3 of the fingers on my right hand :(

If you had it, how did you cope? And how soon did it go away postpartum? I've heard it takes a while sometimes...ugh.
