What are your favorite diapers? BG Elementals for AIOs, Workhorse and Babee Greens for fitteds.

How many diapers do you need in the beginning? I think between PFs, fitteds, and AIOs we had 25-30.

What detergent do you use? I've been through several. My favorites are plain Tide and Country Save.

What other tools do you have that help with CD? Grandma El's diaper cream, fleece liners, small wetbags, pail liners, cloth wipes, and a spray bottle of water.

I second Green Mountain Diapers! Not only is it a great source of information, their diapers are awesome! I also love Abby's Lane for products and info.

I would recommend cloth for your toddler, absolutely! I didn't do cloth with my oldest until she was learning to use the toilet, and I feel it really helped her make the connection between feeling a need to eliminate and actually doing it. We used the Imse Vimse training "underwear." She was in regular underwear full-time just about two months later at age two (exactly).

What are your favorite diapers? I only used Bumgenius Freetimes and Elementals. In retrospect I could have gone with something cheaper/needed stuffing but I knew if I was going to get DH on board with them it needed to be the laziest ones, lol. We love them, though.

How many diapers do you need in the beginning? We started with 18, and did laundry once a day. My LO was a peeing machine, though, and couldn't stand being wet for even a minute so we were constantly changing them. We have 24 now and at 7.5 months I wash them every 2.5-3 days or so.

What detergent do you use? Charlie's Soap Laundry Powder

What other tools do you have that help with CD? Hmm...we have a couple of wet bags...a little one that holds like 6 diapers for the diaper bag and a big one that holds 24 that hangs in the bathroom (I also bring it when we travel). I also have a diaper sprayer, but unfortunately we don't have the right hookup for it on our toilet. It didn't matter with EBF poop but now that we're on solids I have to scrape the poop into the toilet.

@Sweet T: I bought newborn cloth diapers and one-size. For newborn, I preferred lil' joeys and bum genius all-in-ones (exactly how they sound - everything in one. con is longer drying time). For one-size I like both fuzzibunz and bum genius pocket diapers. This means that there is an insert that goes inside that absorbs, and you remove it to wash/dry. There are also one-size all in ones but I don't mind stuffing - and stuffing gives you the option to add absorbency if you need it. I also really like the flip diapers - basically you can reuse the outer shell if no poo gets on it and the inner liner goes in the wash.

It depends how often you want to do laundry and how often you need to change diapers, but I just packed for a trip and am taking 14 diapers and will probably wash every day and a half. We have more at home.

Right now when he is EBF, we use cloth wipes (homemade), a spray bottle with water, and two planetwise pail liners.

I completely agree that it can be overwhelming - let me know if I can help! I spent a ton of time researching while pregnant, but in all honesty a lot of it comes down to personal preference and fit on your baby. Do you have any local shops where you could see things in person?

I have no clue if it'd be worth it for the 2.5 year old - maybe it would help with potty training? It would be a pain to adjust one-size diapers back and forth though, in my opinion.

I'm thinking about going with cloth for baby number 2 but I have no idea where to start. My number one reason is saving money. I've been researching a little bit and am overwhelmed by the costs upfront. I'm also a little worried about diapering 2 kids. DS will be around 26 months when #2 arrives. I don't anticipate him being potty trained by then. I don't know if I should I keep in in disposables or put him in cloth?

What are your favorite diapers?
How many diapers do you need in the beginning?
What detergent do you use?
What other tools do you have that help with CD?

Any tips or info would be great! :)
