You can make toast.

I would give a regular meatball, the baby food ones always seemed gross. But there is nothing wrong with a normal meatball.

Fish was also a good one because it mushes up fine.

Ah. Well you can take baby cereal and purees, mix them together and cook them like pancake batter, then dice and serve as finger food. Minced or shredded beef is good too. And most cereals like cheerios and chex are iron fortified if she's good at chewing with her gums.

DD2 is nine months and eats what we eat. She will sometimes have a pouch if we are on the go but she hasn't eaten purées at home in a couple months.

Breakfast today is scrambled eggs and toast strips.

Dinner was spaghetti with meat sauce and roasted broccoli. She was a little frustrated by the spaghetti not getting in her mouth fast enough. I think she'd do better with a cut pasta.

Lunch was leftover sausage with butternut squash and sauteed spinach.

She has two teeth, but their gums are actually quite hard and can do some good chewing. There are really very few things I wouldn't give her.

@MrsSRS: I would mix cereal with a lot of her purées for some iron so definitely need more iron ideas since she's losing that iron source. She loved the acorn squash and just bought a new one so will try cubes today!
@hellobeeboston: tofu is an awesome idea for some protein.
I've thought

Chicken or beef, finely shredded or diced
Black beans, squash each one gently with your thumb so they aren't a choking hazard
Blueberries, cut in half
Cooked, diced butternut or acorn squash
Large curd cottage cheese
Shredded cheese
Steamed cauliflower
Steamed asparagus

What purees were you particularly bummed to lose?

Tofu cubes, rotisserie chicken, cheese?, potato, veggie burgers (we like dr praegers)....

Tofu was a big hit around that age for my son - of course he won't eat it now - but he also didn't have teeth till 1 so those foods worked.

My miss independent 9 month old has decided she hates purées and will only eat food if she can self feed it (except yogurt... She LOVES yogurt). Currently I give her cut up bananas, ripe pears, avocado, cooked sweet potato, ripe peaches, steamed broccoli, goat cheese, and steamed zucchini. We've tried and not liked watermelon, steamed carrots and a super soft baby meatball. Any new suggestions? I want to go with her new found independence but I also still want her eating to be as well rounded as we can. Also no teeth yet! Thank you!
