@BabyBoecksMom: I typically cloth diaper her during the day and use disposables at night but since the rash started on her thighs I have tried three different disposables and it never made a difference. She has been in only disposables since I found out it was yeast because I didn't want to run the risk of infecting her again. I am going to bleach all my diapers one more time once I know the yeast are gone (I read that I should treat her for a full week after the redness is gone) before I put her back in cloth. But her thighs were still breaking out even in cloth.

@MrsHotDog: I'm almost wondering if it's a reaction to the diaper?

@BabyBoecksMom: my doc gave me that prescription when the rash originally started and it never helped. The only thing the rash on the inside of her leg used to respond to was hydrocortisone and now it isn't responding to that.

@SwanSong: yeah, she goes diaperless a lot (not by my choice. She just ALWAYS gets naked and won't potty train). But the rash part that will not get better isn't ever covered by a diaper. I am at a loss.

Have you tried letting her "air out?" my son had a horrendous diaper rash for over two months, we tried different creams, lotramin, oatmeal baths, the works, giving him naked time was the only thing that worked

I'm so sorry your pediatrician isn't much help. When DD had a persistent diaper rash, her pediatrician prescribed some diaper rash cream. It was basically Aquafor w/ a little bit of a drying agent. Maybe try using some Aquafor before scheduling an appt with a dermatologist?

My daughter has had red blotchy spots on the inside of her thighs for a very long time now. I have taken her to the pedi multiple times and it just isn't getting better and I am sick of it. Two weeks ago it got much worse and it spread and turned into a yeast infection. I have been treating it with Lotrimin and hydrocortisone and it has helped the new red rash that spread onto her privates. The red blotchy spots on her thighs that have been there forever are still just as red and irritated. Should I just take her to a dermatologist and forget what the pedi said about it being yeast? I would have thought it would look better by now so I am wondering if it is eczema although I would hope my pedi would have ruled that out already. I have also been giving her baking soda baths which seemed to alleviate her discomfort. Thanks!
