I LOVE my hair short but it does get frustrating. What is your curl pattern? I get mine cut up the neck in the back and the front is longer and the "bangs" are longer than everything else--but when it curls up it looks straight across.
The back 2 inches is cut upward like a boy's haircut. It would grow out like the one @anonysquire: posted above.

@anonysquire: I do love her hair. It's so much longer than mine, though. :(

Thanks for the help! I guess I just don't know whether I should keep growing out, or just get it chopped up again.

Not sure if you like this but I love it, and it looks like it is thinner on the bottom or something.

@ladyfingers: Hmmmm well I have no hair knowledge but can they thin out the bottom or something? Make layers? Andmaybe you can wear it half up or with it kind of braided back so it fluffs up the top a bit more while it grows out?

Does anybody have curly cuts they've spotted recently that they like? I feel like I've been Googling and finding the same cuts over and over again. I feel stuck. :(

@anonysquire: Thanks! I just hate how heavy it currently is on the bottom and how it's in layers that just kind of lay there. I can't do anything with it.

@tororojo: I'd probably rather have it short, but currently just because it is short does not mean it's low-maintenance! This current cut is so bushy and stupid that it's too hard to make it look good. I liked the inverted bob I had but I don't know if it's flattering to my face, and as I get bigger I just think short hair makes me look bigger lol.

I have so much hair that it won't matter what length it is. If it thins out, it will be more manageable and won't look bad either way lol.

I can't wash my hair daily. OK, lie, I CAN. But I would have to blow dry it every morning and that would get old and make it damaged faster. I don't use silicones on my hair, and haven't found a heat protectant without them. (I'd have to use a sulfate shampoo if I used anything with silicones, to get rid of build-up, but the sulfates dry my hair out and frizz them out so yuck).

I was using Aveda Phomollient when my hair was shorter, but with the current cut, it's not... uh, cutting it.

I guess my fear is that having short hair makes me look not as feminine.

Here's a picture just of my face if that helps with the "short hair" conundrum.

For the record your hair looks great on you! My sister has curly hair and has had hair the same length and shorter than you and it always looks great. Jealous!

From past experience and many bad haircuts, growing hair out isn't a bad thing. You can always cut it. I guess you could always add extensions if you didn't like it short as well. I don't know, I am no help!

I love curly short hair! Once you have a bambino running around, do you think you'd rather have it long or short? Is one easier/quicker to fix? Also, your hair may thin out post-partum--which style do you think would be better if that happens?

I love the idea of no poo, but I have fine hair as well and am not confident that it would work well for me. Would washing it daily perk it up? Maybe a new mousse or something? My hair is fine and curly, although I normally straighten it, but I find that mousse gives me more volume than any other kind of product, curly or straight.

I got my hair chopped off last November, right after our wedding. My stylist did an inverted bob that I really loved. Then my stylist moved out of town and I started seeing a friend stylist, and she didn't really seem to get the whole inverted bob thing. Then I decided I wanted to grow my hair out, because I was frustrated. Now I hate my hair. I'm going in tomorrow for a cut from a brand-new stylist, and my chief concerns are these:

- I feel like I have soccer mom hair.
- I feel like my face is too round and my features not delicate enough for short hair. I also have acne issues and I feel like having short hair draws attention to my face.
- I basically feel as if my hair has no discernible shape or style at the moment.
- I haven't landed upon a style routine that works well for me, either. I've tried the no-poo Curly Girl thing, and my hair is just too fine. I currently do a modified-no-poo where I use a no-sulfate shampoo every other day, don't wash at all on the off days, and use a gel (which I'm not a huge fan of but whatever). I don't know if my issues are product related or style related or both. I do know that when my previous stylist was cutting my hair, I never felt like this, which leads me to believe it's the cut.

OK so the conundrum: Should I have him cut my hair short and return to the inverted bob? Or keep growing it out and just have him work with what's there?

Here are a couple of recent pictures. Sorry they're not super clear on the hair tip -- I'd take a shot today but I wore it pinned back.
