I agree with pp about stepping away from the scale! You would be better off going by measurements. I did the 30ds over the summer and GAINED like 5lbs, but lost several inches off my waist! Its all that awesome muscle, is all! Go by your measurements and how fit you feel, rather than what the scale says.

I agree with others about not stepping on the scale. Weight isn't always the best indicator of progress. And depending on what you're doing, neither are measurements (in the short term). When I first started doing Crossfit I put on my rock climbing harness and it was tighter than before. I was so sad!! Then I realized it was tighter because I had more muscle. As the weeks passed, I gained more muscle and leaned out.

The most important thing is how you feel. Do you feel healthier and more fit? Good job on sticking with your program thus far!

Good for you for getting into working out again! It is hard to stay motivated (I haven't gotten motivated to work out yet...) but it sounds like you're doing well. I know what you mean about motivating dh, too. Mine seems to get motivated when I do. Unfortunately, we're both too exhausted to do anything extra right now. Maybe soon! :)

Also, one thing I love about it is that I'm starting to motivate DH. He's not happy with how he is as far as health and fitness go and he told me that the fact that I keep going is making him want to do it. It's still hard to get up so early every day to do it though.

@MamaBehr: I was hoping to run one when I finish but it'd have to be pretty soon after I finish since it gets so hot here in the summer and I'm pretty intolerant to heat. I was hoping to transition to the 10K program though after I get used to the 5K a bit and then run a 10K this fall.

My clothes are fitting slightly better. I was totally going to get myself a few new things when I get to a specific goal in clothing size.

Why don't you sign up for a 5k race then? Your goal won't be to lose weight, but to run in a race! And most 5k's you get a t-shirt!

Ditto @blackbird. Forget the scale. I'm sure your clothing fit better. Go buy yourself a nice outfit :)

Don't step on the scale! Take body measurements. I'm up 20 pounds from 5 years ago (ok, pregnancy aside) and am far more fit and lean than I was then! What ultimately matters is body fat percentage and how things fit and look.

So today I finished Week 3, Day 2 of the C25K and I've done about a week and a half of the 30 Day Shred (although not everyday). I'm also eating healthier in general, although I've slipped up a few times. I can feel myself getting fitter. For the most part, level 1 of the 30 Day Shred doesn't really phase me and while it's hard, running 3 minutes straight wasn't impossible when at the beginning, running for 60 seconds made me feel sick.

So I know I'm getting fitter and I feel like I look more toned, but I'm not losing weight. In fact, I gained a pound. I know I've been told many times that muscle weighs more so I'll probably gain a bit before start to steadily lose but it still kills my motivation. I found a body fat % monitor to hopefully help and I was going to start tracking my measurements later. It's just hard to stay motivated when the scale isn't going down at all and is sometimes going up!
