Looch's wasn't as sweet and made a good "breakfast cake" but Char's was definitely birthday cake material. It's a keeper! Everyone at work said they were amazing and I ended up using Magnolia Bakery's buttercream and it was perfect. Oh gosh so good. Moist, dense, not too sweet... and it stayed delicious for almost a week! It's the first chocolate cake my family has been more than "meh" about, and I do lots of baking. Not healthy in the least, either. It had a really excellent semi-soft frosting, as well, but it would make for boring looking cupcakes because it's not firm enough to do much with.
