We all suffered a horrible gi bug and/or stomach flu at the start of the year. So my opinion is biased, but I'd at minimum let them know and move to Sunday. Pending your DD the next day or two, I might cancel altogether.

LO needs to be completely vomit free for 24 hours. I would tell your family today so they can make their own choice. My LO got a fever the night before her first birthday. I was so sad for her, and really bummed we had to cancel her party. I'm glad we did, because it ended up being the flu and we all got it. :( Sorry you're going through this!

Last year we were the guests at a party where the birthday boy had thrown up earlier that week. It ended up with DH, DD, our nanny, her daughter and her husband with vomiting and diarrhea later that week.
I'm still bitter at the parents for not canceling. I missed a week of work to clean up vomit.

Cancel.

@jessibear: I would call your brother and make a decision together. You may need to cancel, but some people are much more laid back about germs etc than others. I would also follow the 24 hour rule, but I think you should have a sense by tonight if she will be ready for Sunday. Hope LO gets well soon!

I don't think you need to cancel it! Especially if she doesn't throw up at all today. Could have just been something she ate, my kids randomly puke sometimes. If she doesn't have a fever and is acting normally, I wouldn't worry about it!

I would personally be on edge bringing my LO's around someone who had just been sick but if they are coming in from out of town then I don't know if there is much you can do. I feel like at least letting them know as a courtesy is nice, at least that's what I would want.

Daycare rule would be 24 hours vomit free and no medicine.

So if she last puked today at 7:30, then tomorrow morning at 7:30 if she was still good, she would be fine. Not to say there aren't contagious germs around.

I just don't know if you can cancel the party that late in the game if she does throw up again tonight.

C's 2nd birthday is today! We have a small party (just brunch with family) planned tomorrow. Unfortunately and of course, C randomly vomited yesterday around 230 and again around 730. No fever, she has an appetite and is acting fairly normal. Laying in my lap right now but I think it's more because after she puked in the bed last night, it was another hour or two before we could get her back in a clean bed.

So, I really, really want to have her party. My brother, SIL and niece are coming from out of town and they're my main concern. My niece is 11 months and I really, really don't want to get her sick. I also really want to see them, though and don't really think c is contagious.

Basically, I need you guys to tell me I'm crazy for even considering still having the party. Or not. It MIGHT be possible to move it to Sunday.
