It took almost 2 months for my DD to re-adjust after our trip to Missouri. Her sleep was AWFUL. it can take a lot longer for a child to get better than an adult.

@littleveesmommy: We are doing a bit better. There are still some times she insists that we pat her back, but she's getting better about laying down and we will sing to her without touching her.

Last night I started to walk out and was down by the end of her crib (usually I stand at the side). She got mad and said "mommy here" and pointed to the side where she wanted me to stand.

We are going to have to do the Sleep Lady Shuffle too because we have to wait for her to fall asleep.

We used to have to rub her back, but at least now she will lay down on her own.

It definitely sounds like she's developed a new habit. Traveling can really throw things off!

Have you heard of the Sleep Lady Shuffle? I'm not sure of the exact details but I think you kind of just move further and further away every night (or every few nights). So one night you're bedside, the next night you're a few feet away in a chair...a few nights later you're at the door, etc.

We returned from our trip to Cali last Tuesday and since then, DD has had a hard time falling back to sleep if she wakes in the middle of the night from teething. For the first few days I chalked it up to time zone adjustment and we also let her sleep with us a few nights (she was not familiar with environment and couldn't sleep). I literally have to stand right there until she falls asleep. Her Jedi senses knows when I move and she lifts her head to look for me, and I have to say "mommy is right here, sleep sleep!" I love watching her sleep but I'm getting really tired staying up waiting for her to fall asleep. (Note - I used to just put her back down and walk out with no problems).

Have I created a bad habit? How to correct?
