So I called the health line and the nurse on the phone seemed to say that all my symptoms (and how & when it happens) doesn't fit with what she thinks it would be. So she told me to try and see my doc today or tomorrow rather than wait til thursday!

I think i'll go finish my hospital bag now. ;)

I ditto everyone's suggestion to talk to your doctor. I saw stars toward the end of my pregnancy. For me, it was a high blood pressure thing. I would get lightheaded, then see stars, and feel very dizzy. It only happened a handful of times, and wasn't anything for concern -- my BP would always go back to normal -- but I'd still consult a medical professional.

We have a health hotline here. I'll contact them first to see what they say. Then I'll contact my doc. Our health system isn't the same as yours so trying to ask a single question can be a complicated thing

@blushink: Not to scare you though--I see stars many times a day, and have them in peripheral vision since 1st tri (constantly) and mine are the "not to worry" kind. So... just ask and make sure!

I get that from dehydration + pregnancy, or sudden movement+pregnancy, or changing temperatures + pregnancy- Ask your doctor about any vision disturbances. Like any other symptom it is very possible they say "that's normal, go home" but it could also indicate something bad.

I had ocular migraines for over a year - the root cause was vitamin deficiency (I had chronic acidosis, which causes across-the-board deficiencies, so I can't be more specific.)

Photopsia is the condition where you see stars and it could be anything from an occular migraine to a retinal detachment. In other words, it's a good idea to check in with your doc :)

I get spots when my BP spikes, and it is an indication to be assessed at LDR, so it isn't something I would leave until thursday!

@winniebee: Confession, I've been extremely bad at taking my prenatal vitamins this time around... so ya it can be a sign of low iron. (I've had issues with low iron pre-pregnancy) Maybe i'll make sure to take them this week... at least.

I feel like I have read in my pregnancy apps that visual disturbances can be a sign on high blood pressure. I would call your OB just to be on the safe side.

@betsyboop: possibly. Honestly I have no clue. I know it's common in the third trimester and it's usually related to low blood pressure or a quick drop...

I'll talk to my doctor about it on thursday... because I see stars at least 1x a day if not more. (I am exhausted, but I've been blaming the insomnia on that)

So lately I've been seeing stars. It's not like I'm doing any drastic movements (like getting up really quickly) so I wonder if it's normal. I always forget to talk to my doctor about it... so for now, I sit down (if I'm standing, but usually it happens when I'm sitting) I close my eyes and let it pass by.

Has anyone had this? Do you think it's indication of low blood pressure or something?
