I get them during super stressful times maybe once every 5 years or from excessive sun exposure. And sadly I passed it on to my LO :sad: but like me she has only had it once when she was super super sick. Her pediatrician prescribed an anti-viral medication (it's a liquid) that helps it heal super fast and if you catch it early the cold sore never really develops into a blister but is just a red spot. It was horrible and I felt awful. She got another cold sore this year but it didn't seem to bother her at all. The Dr. never mentioned a cold sore but I'm thinking maybe it was one and this is his second outbreak. </p> <p>@Mamaof2: thanks for your experience. I don't really want to give him antivirals if he doesn't seem too bothered. Ped told us he still could have possibly given it to her. It was miserable. If it's just one spot and it doesn't seem to be bothering him maybe it isn't one? Our nanny gets them, and I saw her sharing food with LO once. I've been nervous ever since that LO would get them. Also, it could be a fever blister (same thing?), ingrown hair/pimple? Doc would have a better idea.
