DD was the same way. It was a constant struggle to get her to eat meat. But we kept trying and now's finally starting to eat meat.

This was me as a child!! My parents struggled to get me to eat meat but I would almost always spit it out. When I was 4 I learned that meat was animals and became a vegetarian for real-- my parents went along with it bc it was easier to get me to eat a balanced diet without pushing meat. I'm fairly certain it started as a texture thing though-- I actually have experimented as I've gotten older (since for me it's more about texture aversions than ethics) and some things have textures that don't bother me: seafood, some fish, salami, bacon. Just in case you haven't tried those I thought I'd throw that out there!

Our son is extremely selective with his protein intake. His favourites are chicken nuggets and he will eat the occasional burger. One time he ate this amazing steak on a bun when we were at a Christmas fair but that was a one-off  .

My understanding is that meat aversion is extremely common. I think it's a textural thing. We just keep trying and we offer meat at every dinner and hopefully he will share our love in time. We are big meat-eaters in our house...no meatless meals here!

It's funny, though, because I love meat. I love a good, rare steak, can go to town on a burger, and am BFFs with bacon.

But when I was pregnant I couldn't eat meat at all. The thought of steak made my stomach turn. Even the smell of bacon made me throw up. I think I managed to successfully eat meat like twice during my pregnancy. After I had him I was fine again (although bacon and I are more good friends now...)

my 13 month old is the same. I used to be vegetarian so it doesn't really bother me. He loves veggies. Yesterday for lunch I gave him a veggie burger and cheddar bunnies. He hated the cheddar bunnies and spit them out. Gobbled up the veggie burger. at least he is a healthy eater :) haha

if your kid is vegetarian, mine is vegan!

Yep, LO is doing the same thing. He loves his veggies and fruit. Getting meat in his diet has been tough the past few days. He wakes up everyday saying "Apple" and "Cheese." I'm convinced that my LO dreams about cheese plates at night.

My LO definitely prefers not meat for most of the time. We eat vegetarian 2x a week anyways; so it's just up to him what he eats or doesn't eat!

My daughter was like this for quite a while. Now she eats some more meat... but her favorite proteins are still eggs, beans, and lentils.

Going through the same with our 15 month old son...He will still eat eggs and corn dogs (sometimes) but more than 1 bite of chicken? No. UGH! I find that if I mix meat into things, like pasta or soft tacos, he is more willing to eat it (covered in sauce, etc).

I did this when I was a kid. My mom couldn't get me to eat any meat until I was a few years old. And I've never been a big meat eater, but not vegetarian. (mostly, I did have my veg phases :) )

No experience myself since LO isn't here yet, but my niece was a self-imposed vegetarian until she was about six. She'd occasionally eat hotdogs but wouldn't touch any other kind of meat. She eventually she grew out of it though.

Seriously, he won't touch meat. Or if he does, it's one piece that usually get spit out and the rest will either be left on the plate or dropped on the floor. Doesn't matter what it is--steak, ground beef, chicken, pork, hot dog....or how it's prepared. He loves beans and fruits and vegetables, but refuses meat.

Anyone else's LO do this? I'm sure it's just a phase, but D and I try to eat meatless a few times a week, and have said if E decides to be a vegetarian we would (mostly) too.
