@avivoca: see if daycare can just try to hold her off on that last bottle, I think that'll ease some pressure!

@daniellemybelle: ack, I used to be able to pump after bedtime but now she wakes up at 11:00 demanding the boob.

@Applesandbananas: She usually eats it right before I pick her up (it was 4:30 today and I got her a little after five) and has a snack of puffs too. Gah, no wonder she has been refusing dinner...she's full!

@avivoca: what time is she taking her last bottle on the days she takes it? Could they add a snack in the afternoon?

Around 10m, my LO would nurse in the morning (7ish) have solids at drop off 7:30ish) a bottle about 10, then solids at 12ish, then a bottle around 1:30, an afternoon snack of puffs and more solids, and I'd get him around 4:30. Adding the extra solids snack helped him drop that last bottle!

Hospital grade pumps are the bomb. You will love it, seriously. It's like a gentle caress compared to the Ameda!

Having said that, if you could decrease bottles slightly & make it 2 months, then at 11 months you could start slowly adding cow's milk to her bottles. Of course, talk to your ped, but on here that's what I have heard many peds have recommended.

Or pump after bedtime? I know that sucks.

Go you for making it so far!

@jetsa: She still takes 3 bottles 4 out of 5 days. Each bottle usually has between three and four ounces in it. Maybe I should ask them to only give two and see if she needs the third.

Has H decreased her bottles due to solids yet? J went from 15 oz to just 8 oz about 2 months ago. I asked the dr and she said it was just because he's eating solids as well, he doesn't need all that milk. Though if you give him 15 oz he will eat it. We didn't realize he didn't need it until she just started feeding what I brought,

@catlady: I'm usually 1-3 oz. short every day, so hopefully this works!

@Danizaur: My insurance will not replace pumps and only provides one every 36 months (boo). They also only cover rental if the baby is in the NICU but mom has been discharged.

@avivoca: Good luck! I should add that the hospital grade one wasn't really a miracle maker for me but hopefully if you are only a little bit short, it will be ok. I was short by 1-2 oz most days and now I make just enough and occasionally have an extra ounce or two.

@avivoca: I was in a similar situation a few weeks ago and I bit the bullet and rented a hospital grade pump (medela symphony). Of course LO decided to stop drinking as much milk at daycare last week, too. Lol. Either way, I had been using up my freezer stash for the past month or so, and now I able to keep up again. For me, the rental price was worth it since LO has MSPI and we have never tried formula so I have no idea how she'd react and I'd love to avoid it altogether.

@Applesandbananas: I'm short anywhere from 1-3 oz, depending on the day. She usually finishes all of her bottles, but at least once a week she doesn't drink one and that gets me through the next day. Prior to this, I was sending 12 oz. daily to daycare and pumping 12-13 oz, but now I get anywhere from 9-13 oz and this week my short one was 8 oz (but it was ok because LO didn't drink her third bottle on Monday).

Ugh!!! I hope the new parts help. Can you call your insurance and see if they will replace it for free? I'm pretty sure my insurance will replace my pump during the first year for free if it messes up...at least I'm pretty sure that's what they said when I ordered it.

How far short are you? Is LO finishing bottles at daycare?

Around 9m, LO went from 12oz to 9oz and by 11m, he was only drinking about 5oz. I kept pumping the same # of times and length of time, but my output had decreased to match his decreased demand.

I know its so painful to keep spending money on this stuff, but personally would definitely rent a hospital-grade pump to get through the last few months. They are amazing, it will make pumping so much easier.

For the past month or so, it has been getting harder and harder to pump enough for LO at daycare. At first, I thought it was my supply, so I started eating more, trying to get in more things to help lactation. Lactation cookies, which used to help a lot, didn't do anything. I'm drinking enough water usually (some days I don't get enough, but I'm trying to make a conscious effort to drink at least 80 oz. a day.

Now, I think it's my pump(s). I have an older model Ameda Purely Yours that I bought from someone before having LO and the newer Ameda that I got from insurance. For awhile, the new one worked, but I've had so many issues with the parts. The older one I use as a reserve, but after a few weeks of really crappy output, I switched to the older one and it gets better results, but I'm pretty sure it's on it's last legs as well. On the chance that my parts are all going bad again, I just bought new tubing, suction cups, and duckbill valves for both sets of pumping parts to see if that helps.

I'm so mad. I have two and a half months left of pumping. At this point, would it be worth it to rent a hospital-grade pump? I'm loath to spend money that I don't really have on a brand-new pump for a couple of months.
