@Foodnerd81: My husband is usually the same and it's the most random moments that he says the most perfect things. :D

@.twist.: It's actually unlike him to come up with something sweet like that-- he's usually funny, but this was extra nice.

And yeah, they are SO much better today! Thank goodness. If I had Kim's shoes on... well, I just wouldn't. No way. I'd pay any amount of money for loose flats, especially if I was her!

Prankles! LOL. That is cute. Your DH is super sweet.

So sorry you're dealing with swollen feet right now. So not fun. I was just going to suggest ice packs, sounds like you're doing everything else right!

I lay in bed or on the couch with my feet propped up on pillows. It helps a lot to have them higher than waist level.

I'm already paying for a gym membership that I don't use, but they don't have a pool and now I'm wondering if I should get a short term membership somewhere that does!

My sister pointed out that I didn't even get a full night's sleep to get rid of them-- in bed by 3 and up by 8.

@artbee: Loving that you were at your baby shower barefoot! I do have a pair of flip flops that are a little looser and have a big flower on them from my wedding-- they may be the ticket for my baby shower in a few weeks!

I hear ya. I haven't seen my normal ankles in weeks :/ I was on a plane this weekend as well, and it was awful! I've found that laying in bed sitting up with my feet propped up on pillows helps a lot, as well as wrapping cold washcloths around them. I don't have access to a pool, but I know a lot of people say swimming really helps!

@Foodnerd81: Mine started at 33 weeks. I remember because that was when I had my shower, and on the day of my shower my shoes didn't fit. Since it was that day I didn't have time to get new shoes yet so I went shoeless. And we weren't in a house.... we were at a baseball stadium. Meanwhile I recently went to DH's cousin's baby shower and she was wearing heals!

I just bought one pair of flip flops that had a flower on them so they could go casual or fancy in a size up. I felt like people were too busy looking at my big belly to notice my ankles.

My feet and ankles swelled in August and the only thing that relived them was childbirth in December. I wore a LOT of pants.

@Anagram: Last time I flew, they were bad when I landed but the next morning they were better, just from draining overnight, I guess. But this morning they were still gross. I guess I'll try taking my dog out for a long walk with awesome socks on :)

@artbee: I'm very concerned about this lasting until the end-- I still have 10 weeks to go (well, plus or minus two weeks). And it's finally skirt and dress weather-- thank god for maxis that cover the sausage feet up.

I've been taking warm/cool baths and drinking tons of water. I met with a midwife last Friday who told me to swim or go walk in a pool in water at least neck deep because the hydrostatic pressure would relieve swelling, and she was right! Swimming felt SO incredibly good, and I got my old ankles and feet back for about 12 hours!

You'll get them back.... after you birth your baby :) I was pregnant with LO in the Florida summer heat, so the swelling was BAD. Nothing helped. Keeping them up would help for a bit, but the second my feet hit the floor the cankles were back.

It's okay!!! It's totally the flying. I had HUGE feet and ankles after flying to/from our babymoon. Bigger than they are now at 32 weeks. It will go away after 2-3 days. And the best way to get them to de-swell immediately is to stuff those fat sausages into running shoes and go do some type of workout (I did the elliptical). Make sure you wear longer, but regular socks. It magically depuffs your feet if you workout for at least 30 minutes.

It works better than putting my feet up, or icing, or anything else.

Ever since my morning sickness stopped, I've been having a pretty easy pregnancy. Like, really, can't complain. But this weekend, I had a not so great girls weekend turned drinking weekend (not awesome when you are seven months pregnant and drinking water all weekend), had a terrible travel day back, got in after 2 am, and to pull it all together, my ankle bones are practically gone. My feet are so swollen I can feel it when I flex or point my toes. I know it's a combo of all the flying, and just generally not eating so great with lots of salty foots, and being on my feet a lot more than usual, but it's gross and I want my feet to look and feel normal!

So, in addition to listening to my vent, any advice on making swollen pregnant ankles and feet better? I've got my feet up, but they are still below my waist because who can sit with their feet higher than their waist? Trying to drink a lot of water today but it feels like an ice bath would be really nice.

And, DH wins major points. He won't even let me call them cankles, because it's only because I'm pregnant. We settled on pregles or prankles. Love him.
