I have IBS, but I'm not on medication. I also have IBS-C and not D and since pregnancy can cause constipation, I had pretty horrible gas cramps during my first trimester. Like, not being able to commute or walk until it went away...but luckily this only lasted for the first 10 weeks (and I had this start before my missed period).

I don't have IBS, but pregnancy causes major constipation, so you will probably get a break from it.

@char54: massages aren't recommended during the first tri because they can cause the uterus to contract : (

@MamaMoose: That's good to know! Mine is diarrhea too so hopefully I've have the same luck.

I'm thinking I might schedule regular massages for the next little bit. I won't really be calm until I hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time but I'm really trying to not be anxious and just enjoy every day!

I have IBS but I'm not on medication. Like you mine is much worse with anxiety which is tough sine pregnancy is FULL of anxiety. Honestly though it wasn't bad. My IBS tends to present as diarrhea and pregnancy made me constipated so it sort of counteracted the IBS!

This might be TMI, but I'm wondering if anyone has dealt with IBS and Pregnancy before. I have a really bad case and have been on medication for about 8 years - 2 pills, 3 times a day - a lot, but it helps.

It occurred to me to check if it was okay to continue taking this medication. My province's tele-health nurse told me not to as there are no studies done on humans to ensure its safety.

I'm wondering if my IBS will get any worse with pregnancy?? When I'm anxious/nervous it comes on especially bad so I'm trying to remain as calm, positive and not worry as much as possible.

I feel bad for poor DH if I can't get it under control for the next 9 months!! lol!!
