Both - whatever is at hand :) Although HB has made me use Advil more I think. Anyway, I said both because we have had some seriously bad fevers (more with my son) for which we've had to alternate every few hours according to ped's instructions.

We still use Tylenol for DS with a fever. It is still what our doctor recommends. Even the other month when his temp was over 104 they still gave him Tylenol only, both in office and at the hospital (suppositories there).

We use Baltic Amber for other things like teething and try to use the meds only when necessary.

I find that Ibuprofen last MUCH longer. For us, it's the difference between giving 1 dose in a day and 2-3.

I used to use acetominophen suppositories for my son, they worked like a charm until he got over 20 pounds, then we noticed they became less effective.

At that point, I switched to liquid Advil, which is much better for him in terms of fever reduction.

Depends on the situation. At night or for what seems to be more acute pain, we use Ibuprofen. Everything else is Tylenol. I avoid any kind of meds as much as possible, though!

@regberadaisy: I personally use ibuprofen for myself, so I could definitely see myself switching once Xander's older!

For things like teething, I like motrin because I have heard that it lasts a bit longer and I think that is true for my LO.

@Adira: @Smurfette: good point I think Ibuprofen is only OK for 6 months and older. Thankfully we never had to administer it pre-6 months. :(

I guess I don't have a preference, but I was told to use acetaminophen with Xander, so that's what we use. He's only 5 months though, so maybe that's why.

Tylenol cause she isn't old enough for Advil. Hard to believe she will be in a month and half already.

Do you prefer to give Ibuprofen (motrin), acetaminophen (Tylenol), neither or both?

I prefer to give ibuprofen but we have given both because DH bought acetaminophen before and when we ran out and LO had a fever above 102 we'll give it in a emergency situation.

Which reminds me to head to the pharmacy to buy ibuprofen and just throw out all the acetaminophen in the house!
