We co-slept for a long time because DD was a terrible sleeper until we figured out that was what worked for her. We had a hard time getting her to sleep in her crib but a floor bed works. She could never survive the transfer into the crib but can fall asleep if we just lay next to her on the floor bed. Once she started crawling I was nervous co sleeping but I am a light sleeper so I felt pretty confident that I would wake up if she started moving!

Have you considered a floor bed for either child? Our son co-slept with us from the newborn days and would only sleep in a crib for a few hours at a time. We ditched the crib and went with a floor bed (the crib mattress on the floor), with a baby-proofed room at 15 months. He did really well with it and sleeps better than he ever did in a crib. (He actually still co-sleeps from about 1am till morning, but I think it's because we're still nursing). Maybe your son would like a floor bed? Or even your daughter?

Dd and I have shared a bed since she was born. We have a port-a-crib a friend let us borrow and my intention was to have her sleep in that. She has been a great sleeper and bed sharing has really worked for us. She'll nap in the crib occasionally but not for long, especially since it's smaller than a standard crib. Now that she is rolling and crawling I am terrified she'll roll off the bed. I surround us with pillows but she could totally push one over.

I can't get her to sleep in the portable crib and it sucks! I'm ready for my own bed back and my husband has been sleeping on the couch when he's home. It's ridiculous. DS is still in his crib and we have a twin in his room, but I don't know if he's ready to transition out of it. Thoughts/ideas/suggestions...?!
