@T.H.O.U.: can you do a gathering that is family friendly for hte early portion. Then get grandparents to watch LO for the evening then go do something adult friendly in the evening?

Or maybe tour a local micro brewery ( I remember in your other thread you thought a beer tasting would be a good party idea) in the early afternoon with him and LO. They usually do small tastings. Nothing booze crazy. Then when you come home (or wherever) it's a surprise party for him?? The early part of the party can be family friendly. Then after people with kids leave it can be a adult beer tasting in the evening? Again maybe grandparents can take LO for the night?

@regberadaisy: His birthday is in August (3 days after LO's 2nd). I think I want to just do a group gathering because I can't arrange anything exotic like that from here. I don't mind spending money on some decorations and food, but I need an activity/location that is family friendly but still "for him" if that makes sense (aka not a playground but not a pub).

@T.H.O.U.: what's your budget? For BIL #1 we threw him a surprise party at a local brew pub. BIL #2 we took him sky diving (his bucket list) then for Prime Rib afterwards. For DH we threw him a surprise party to throw him off the scent of the real surprise! Which was a helicopter ride over Niagara Falls.

When is his bday? What are his interests?

DH is turning 35 this year.

Any ideas for a fun, special and cheap way to celebrate?
No surprise party because we really don't have a ton of close friends we would want to invite. And we did that for his 30th already. We also did a helicopter ride over Niagara Falls. He's already been skydiving. Besides we both agree with kids now nothing "life threatening". ;)

My family lives in NYC and our good friends (his BFF) will be in Boston by then. His brother lives outside of Atlanta. So those are all city options that can be cheap.

Any golf tournaments/majors happening around then? He's a huge golf fan. Loves sports and microbrews. And totally love good food and wine. :)

Thanks!
