The other day I bought a cake at Baskin Robbins and they didn't have any frosting to write Happy Birthday on it. So I melted a handful of chocolate chips and stirred in a splash of half and half and stirred it to smooth. Then put it into a ziplock sandwich bag and cut off the tip... it worked really well!!

You could use some kind of cake topper to make it really quick. I put a little tinkerbell figurine on DD's cake and it was very cute and she loved it.

DH's birthday is coming up and I'm making him a cake. We're spending the day out so I'm not going to have a lot of time for this cake...... but I want to make it somewhat special. He's requested a yellow cake with strawberry icing. So yes, he's going to have a pink cake. I don't think he thought that through. Any ideas on how I can make the cake look good with a short amount of time? I have absolutely no cake decorating skills.
