@78h2o: my 4.5 yr old would play with any of those toys, haha.. She totally fights with DS over his baby toys. But like others suggested, bubbles are also a great idea and cheap.

@Cole: thank you for the ideas! I don't have any concrete but they could "paint" my deck. It's made of that trex stuff, but i still think it looks darker wet. So I could do bubbles, paint brushes, a sandbox and maybe the paint in the baggie thing. Sounds good! I do have extra measuring cups and stuff, so I can work on outfitting the kitchen in case it's rainy/cold and we can't be outside.

I do think that out of novelty if nothing else they will be thrilled to play with any toys you have! For food for your kitchen, start setting aside empty food containers, add in a few spoons and measuring cups and you are in business!

The other thing I like with toddlers is getting a large roll of paper (Staples seems to be the best bet) and rolling it out on the floor. They can color all over it and it is easy for you.

If you have any concrete in your yard put out cups of water and paint brushes, they can "paint" your driveway or sidewalk.

I hope you guys have a great time!

@chopsuey119: I can totally get bubbles. That's a good idea! I don't have a sandbox, but I have a plastic kiddie pool that I could fill with a little sand and some toys.

It's great that you have a yard and deck! My 24 month old doesn't need toys to have fun outside. She's happy just running around and looking at flowers, etc.
I think all kids love bubbles. If you have an area for sidewalk chalk that's always popular, sandboxes are a lot of fun too!

My son is 28 months, and he'd play with all of those things at a play group partially because it's a new environment and also because we don't have those specific toys at home.

He also loves stickers, so I'd get some of those Melissa and Doug Sticker pads, they're cheap and they can be re used.

Any idea about the upper age limit on the toys I have? What about board books? When do they become interested in playing dress up?

@aprk: that looks fun! I'm a little worried a bag would break though and make a mess, but maybe outside on the deck! Thanks!

I wish I didn't just get rid of a giant stack of cardboard boxes... I probably could have come up with a way to do something fun with those!

I joined a local moms group and have been enjoying going to playdates at other people's homes. I'd love to host a get together at my house, but I have mostly baby toys (see photos) and board books, so I am worried the toddlers would be bored. Does anyone know whether these toys would interest toddlers? Any ideas for inexpensive toys or activities that would keep the older babies/toddlers busy?

I do have a fenced backyard and nice deck, so we could hang out outside if it's nice... but I don't have any outdoor toys. I was thinking I could maybe buy some cheap balls and a tunnel, but would that keep them entertained? Any other ideas?

**I have a cheap kitchen I got for $5 at a yard sale, but I need to get play food, etc. - I have noticed that the toddlers seem to like that kind of thing!
