We love the Copley Plaza hotel in Boston and did a winter overnight there with LO. We ordered room service (like fancy room service; champs and steaks etc) and since it's a nice hotel the room service is pretty good! We even had cocktails delivered up ahead of time and sat around in big fluffy hotel robes while LO watched Disney Jr :silly: it was so crazy indulgent feeling and SO MUCH FUN

We have a similar situation RE: no sitter. I'd go away for the weekend with the family, but take an afternoon to yourself for a spa! Or take your actually birthday off work and do a spa day - my friend does that every year. Takes a vacation day and does the spa alone.

If it's a during the day thing, I love the spa/hotel plan (you could get fancy lunch, massages, and a room?! ), or if you go into Boston you could go to your favorite museum and then get $$$ awesome lunch and then go buy something you've been wanting, like a fancy kitchen gadget or a new pair of boots? I recently did basically just that, although alone, as a late birthday celebration for myself, and it was so fun.

The spa idea might feel like more of a fabulous blowout though. If you're comfortable with it I LOVE gingerbebe's idea. as usual, her ideas are always amazing. HBD in advance!

Are you more interested to try something new or do something you used to love to do and never get to do right now? I ended up being in a reminiscing mood and spent an afternoon with friends wine tasting and catching up. I also took the day off work and had a me day at home. If DH could have taken time off we probably would have done things we used to do pre kids.

Um, I would start hiring a babysitter on the reg now so that you're comfortable with leaving your kids with them overnight in March!?!? Is there not a daycare teacher who would be willing to stay overnight and make some extra cash!?

I don’t know much about Boston so I can’t help you there! However, I think going away for the day with just DH is nice! You can do cake or whatever you like with the kids later?! The spa and/or limo is a great idea too!! I’m all for quality time with the DH!!! Happy Birthday!

I turn 40 in March and I’m looking for some ideas for what to do. I usually like to plan our winter vacation for that week but this year we decide to take a Disney cruise the month before.

I’d like to do something fun because it’s a big birthday and I don’t want to sit around being depressed at hitting another decade.

We have two kids and no one to watch them overnight, so anything we do needs to either be kid friendly or something DH and I can do during the work day while they’re at daycare. He suggested we get a limo and go into Boston to do something, but I don’t even know what. The other thing I thought of is to go to our favorite hotel/spa about 1.5 hours away. Either for the day by ourselves or overnight with the kids.

Any ideas for fun/special things to do in the Boston-ish area in March?
