He hates when I put bandaids on his fingers so I tell him that if doesn't stop biting his nails, I'm going to put a bandaid on it. I thought he would just pull the bandaids off, but he just leaves them on.

@pinkcupcake: DD stopped biting her toe nails, but she still bites her nails! (not as often though). Whenever I see her with her fingers in her mouth I tell her to take them out.
HAven't really tried anything else! Can't put nail polish on her nails because she thinks it's fun to scrape the color off with her teeth.. :P

Ahh bumping this - I'm dealing w/my 2yo chewing on her finger and toenails constantly. Sometime it even bleeds b/c she chews them down to the quick :( I've been putting a little bit of aloe (from an aloe plant) b/c it has a bitter taste, but that doesn't work all the time... anyone else have any other suggestions??

I bit my nails well into my jr. high years, my mom tried everything. What ended up workign for me was manicures, if someone else painted htem I would leave them be to look pretty. Don't know if that would work with a toddler though! She also did the gross tasting fingernail polish, so when I bite them they tasted digusting, it was so gross I still remember it. I used to bite until they bleed so she was desperate!

DD is killing me lately.
She's been biting her fingernails AND toenails.

It's nice that I don't have to trim them. HAHA. :P but I really need to break her of this habit!
